I should also add that even though it is not a sin, it is a stupid thing to do. Avoidance of: illegal drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, gambling, multiple partners, internet addiction, high calorie/low nutrition foods, religion, republican politics, cutting on yourself and abusing your pets will, ultimately make you a better and happier person.Fat people please stop eating so much. By that logicif all drugs were "decriminalized" we wouldn't need to avoid any of them!

Re: Is smoking marijuana a sin?
I usually don't post on forums, but after spending 2hrs thoroughly reading every post, I'm a little shocked at some of the things being said. Now I'm not here to argue weed. I've read enough and I'm a saved Christian, and I've been baptized. Regarding weed, I don't know how I feel towards it, i've prayed about it a lot and with time ill go with my heart and wait for god to answer me.
There's many reasons I feel it "Might" not be a sin but I don't want to get into that. What I don't get is why is everyone here so quick to judge everyone with stereotypes? Some of the stuff being said doesn't seem Godly or Christian like at all. For example saying stuff like your damned to hell, and You're going to be anally raped by the devil? Would Jesus ever say that? I would hope not.
Many of you probably know much more then I do about the bible, but I do read it, and I did go to a Christian school for a year. One thing that really "Shocked" me is somewhere I think around the 5th or 6th page someone said something about avoiding crippled and retarded people? That makes no sense to me and god created everyone for a purpose. We all have gifts and talents given to us specifically by god. He loves us all does he not? He's given us the chance for a 2nd life of eternity and a chance to choose how we live it. I would say that is love. None of us know how to love unconditionally.. god loves us like that every single one of us... we are all sinners and we all need to keep repenting and putting god first in your life, even when you feel like he's not blessing it.
I know I'm going on a rant and I'm sorry I'm not trying to troll or do any such thing. I just think some of the things said in this long long forum post were said in mean manor. Maybe the intentions were good but no need to be stereotypical and calling people potheads because they messed up on a post. Who are we to judge? Our purpose should be getting as many people as we can to become saved to experience the awesome glory that is Jesus Christ! We can leave the judging to God, because only god can judge you..
I love you guys God Bless you all!!

(John 7:24) "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
(Leviticus 19:15) "Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour."
Your fluffy bunny Jesus is a lie. Read the Bible (a real one, not some NIV or ASV or NSA garbage), come back here in a few weeks, and speak from a position of knowledge.

Re: Is smoking marijuana a sin?
I pray that god forgives you, because in the end who does the judging Sir? Are you the one that will tell me if I'm going to heaven or hell? Making statements like "You must have smoked to much pot in highschool" is based on your assumptions and your assumptions only.. I spent my time in highschool trying to stay in the word of god and praying every single night that god would help me and repenting for my sins..

You're right about judging like I said I'm sure many of you know more then I do but I'm "Learning". But one thing I do know is who are you, or anyone on the forums to say "you're damned to hell,I don't care if you claim to be a saved Christian you smoke weed or you watch porn, whatever the sin you're going to hell". I'm not saying that towards you but I saw a few people say it. Once someone says there saved isn't it up to god to decide if you really are? If I'm wrong I wanna know why so I know if were both on the same page.

Frankly I don't believe that you pray OR that that you are repentant OR that you are familiar with God's Word as detailed in the 1611 KJV Bible, because otherwise you wouldn't be so shocked and surprised to discover that you are leading a life of sin that will guarantee you an eternal date with the Devil in the largest fire-filled bar in the universe.

Listen closely: we (you, me, anyone) DO NOT MAKE THE RULES. God made the rules, and He made them quite plain in the Bible. He will apply them at the end. That's it.
Getting angry with a True Christian™ for enumerating and explaining these rules to someone who evidently does not understand them makes about as much sense as cussing out a rules official on a golf course because you kicked your ball out of the rough.

Frankly, until you understand exactly what it is you profess to believe in, you have absolutely no business calling yourself a Christian. But I understand all too well that we live in a depraved culture where pop spirituality is sold as a commodity just the same as the latest Harry Potter witchcraft book or Tila Tequila lesbean sex tape. Jesus has much to say about you know-nothing, bandwagon-hopping false pseudo-christians, including the following:
Matthew 7:21
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
The shallowness of your understanding is evidenced by your assertion that claiming to be a Christian is sufficient for Salvation™, even when one continues to wallow in narcotics abuse and pornography. Son, it is not sufficient to merely raise your hand or to check the right box on a questionnaire. To be Saved® means to have a complete internal transformation, to the point where you can no longer be said to be the same person (I Peter 1:23)! To be Saved® means that you have not only had your past sins washed away, but that you are indeed incapable of committing sin!
I John 3:6-9
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
For you to suggest that a Christian would persist in smoking marihuana cigarettes and viewing perverse films only goes to show how little you actually know about what it means to be a blood-bought son of the Lamb.
So please do not call yourself a Christian until you can actually trouble yourself the minimal effort required to understand exactly what it is you claim to be. I want you to join me in Heaven, singing praise songs for all eternity, but at this point I'd say your prospects are not looking very good.
I exhort you to take your faith more seriously, boy.II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power
The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. Rushdoony
