Facial piercings - acceptable for Christians?

In a brochure I've received, thinking of early shopping for Christmas, I've seen some unpleasant facial piercings or more particularly, objects to wear in them made from gold and stainless steel. And other stuff, possibly jet or ceramics. Or enamel, like cloisonné. I don't want to overdo the illustrations because we've seen this sort of thing "on the streets" and the range of possibilities is limitless. But to what extent (if at all) should a Christian buy into the fashion trend?

I've redacted the eyes due to they might become Christians and not wish to be reminded of the fad. Clearly any satanic motifs would be rejected, even if received as a gift. Neutral designs, an ear gauge or nose grommet say, are not intrinsically demonic. I'm not likely to wear one myself – but how should family members be advised if they're given one this Christmas? Are they spiritually neutral or is there in fact a sinister undertone regardless of the piece?

Leviticus tells us this is a sin. I'd suggest to any family member do not sin.

Flesh cutting is prohibited by God if it's done "for the dead" rather than as a fashion statement. For example, if my second cousin died, I could not cut off an ear in commemoration. But, I thought, couldn't I just get the tiger eye ear gauge plugs not commemorating anything?

Thank you for directing me to God's instruction manual. By reading His directions in context, rather than taking an isolated passage on its own, a clearer picture was provided. As part of a royal priesthood, no Christian should adopt facial piercings, make themselves bald, poke gold rods through the nose or any other metal (covered by the adorning and apparel prohibitions) just as was the case for His earlier priesthood. Clearly tiger eye, ruby, obsidian, quartz, amethyst and the like presented as facial decoration need to be destroyed – because God (not me) associates the "look" with wizards and familiar spirits, helping to explain why people wearing them look so doleful, while we are peculiar to Him.
