Have any of you actually read the passage from Leviticus that you’ve cited? Here’s the King James version:

18: For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,
19: Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,
20: Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;
21: No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

That is, no one with any sort of disability is allowed to offer ceremonial sacrifices to the LORD. I’m not sure why this means that God hates retarded people. Certainly, they aren’t qualified to be priests and perform sacrifices, but that doesn’t mean that they’re subhuman or worthy of extermination. Here’s a few other types of people who aren’t allowed to offer ceremonial sacrifices:

1.Anyone who has not inherited the priesthood via the line of Aaron. That means everyone in this forum, since there are no pure descendents of the Israeli priesthood. At a minimum, anyone who isn’t biologically Jewish falls into this category.
2.People who are menstruating.

Wait, that’s absurd. Bald people aren’t evil. There’s a simple way out of this: read the two verses that come before the part you cited.

There is a distinction between the set of imperatives that priests must follow in order to remain clean (not touching undead, not making baldness, etc) and the list of physical deformities that makes one unclean. While in Leviticus 21:16-23, you find a set of deformities that automatically makes one profane. There is no choice in the matter; one is simply born unclean.
