  • Ectopic Pregnancy-- What Does the Bible Tell Us?

Brothers, pray forgive my intrusion into this thread, but your authority is needed here.

What laws should be in place to deal with ectopic pregnancies? I understand that it is sometimes God's Purpose for a woman to die in childbirth, but what about a pregnancy that can't complete its construction? Should women's lives be saved at the expense of the child so that she can give birth later on? Should it be the doctor's decision or the husband's?

I was hoping someone with superior scriptural knowledge could weigh in on this. Medical training could also help, I guess.
His left hand should be under my head, and his right hand should embrace me.

Thank you, Sister Handmaiden, for asking this question. Other men here may have knowledge and Biblical wisdom to guide us to right answer. I will only pass along one of the many variables that might be involved. What I would want to know first, who is the woman involved? Knowing this puts us on the proper path toward a God-approved decision.

For example, if this is the wife of one of our pastors or of a prominent church leader and if she brought into the marriage a large inheritance from her family we are looking at a wife whose life needs to be saved. A wife, or if I must say so, a girlfriend, from of some lesser standing a different decision might find its way into the situation. That is a start toward the ultimate decision.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

Our faith teaches us that every life is sacred. That includes unborn babies in ectopic pregnancies. To terminate such a pregnancy is to take the life of a child before it is God's will that the child's life be taken, which is, after homosexuality and race mixing, the greatest sin a person can commit. These women need to stop bellyaching and live up to their responsibilities as mothers and provide a secure environment for their babies for as long as possible. If that means that the women must die, well, that's God's will, and who are we to stand in His way? If God had wanted these women to live, he would have given them normal pregnancies.
