  • Aurora - Introduction

Hello, my name is Aurora, I am 19 and from Canada. I have attended the Faith Community Christian Church, and I have been brought up in the faith. I am currently working towards a dual degree in education and psychology, in hopes of becoming a teacher for my community in the future so that I can continue to spread the work of God on a greater scale.

    Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

    Proverbs 31:16-17
She considereth a field, and buyeth it: With the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, And strengtheneth her arms.

Welcome. I presume you are of the male gender since you want to undertake "higher studies". Women are best suited for domestic duties and are guided by husbands, fathers and brothers.

Proverbs 31 is a useful checklist for men choosing a bride.
I always would consider the caution in Proverbs 31:3
58 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; 59 Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. 60 Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. 61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bringk upon thee, until thou be destroyed.

Welcome to Landover Baptist. You may wish to either leave Canada or step up your prayers and proselytizing because a new report indicates that Canadians are abandoning Christ in great numbers.

I feat that some terrible calamity will befall your tiny, little nation.

        Hi
Deuteronomy is always encouraging and God's message for Joshua was especially important due to the task before him and The Israelites. Do teachers in Canada have to learn about lesson plans and learning styles? There's so many weird theories out there and evidence (such as you have cited in your post) is often the last thing they want. Unless it's evidence for tarot cards or something like that. I've even heard that "other ways of knowing" including education methods from peoples who hadn't invented writing or counting beyond 2 are promoted enthusiastically with no reference at all to what happened when a society was based on such knowledge. Sadly, never having been taught how to distinguish garbage from actual knowledge, these avant-garde classroom settings produce graduates basing their life choices on garbage, unless accidentally I guess, and when the inevitable happens they start blaming everyone else.
Proverbs 1:32 For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
God is not like that. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum Miss Destroyers. I would encourage new members to hop off their introduction and start posting on other threads. After all, we're worthless sinners who only have value because Jesus sacrificed Himself on the cross to redeem us, so why keep talking about ourselves? The bread and butter of this forum is the glorification of Jesus in relation to the news of the day and various and sundry topics.

A word of caution: Jesus will be reading everything you post here (Proverbs 15:3).
I was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful shore,
          Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the Sea heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I!

I do not get it. People think they can, on the spur of the moment, declare unwavering faith and commitment in the Lord and five seconds later, pay homage to 'Hello Kitty', that gook sex ring.
Being Christian requires unwavering total and absolute commitment.
A Christian woman has several very serious requirements to Satisfy the Needs of God©. She must:
            • Be attractive.
            • Be quiet.
            • Find a man that can tolerate her.
            • Cook very well.
            • Keep a home spotlessly clean.
            • Express male sons.
            • Never question her husband.

No where on that list is 'education' or 'brain shrinking'. That is Gods Job®
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

Thank you for your warm welcome,

Although if I didn’t know any better I would’ve thought that you were implying one's gender is determined by outside factors such as one's academic success, one’s own preference, one’s hobbies…etc rather than what was given at birth. But I do understand where you’re coming from and I do understand your confusion and worries.

My mother leads the home, my father leads his workforce and God leads all of us. I do admit, neither my mother nor I am the most traditional woman. My parents met while they were both studying at Harvard, and although my mother has chosen to, on her own accord, sacrifice and be a housewife, I just don’t see myself doing the same thing- but it also depends on what my future husband/family wants/needs.

But for now, my father and mother both expect me to study, and as their daughter, I obey them.

I do admit, neither I nor my mother has done many “actual domestic duties” as my father has always made sure we’ve had maids, chefs…etc, and such for it. Which may be a problem in the future when I marry- though I highly doubt my father would bare to find me a man lower than him in any way. Either way, whoever this future man may be, for now, I trust my parents' judgment and decisions for me.

                Re: Aurora - Introduction

People use the word "gender" to signify different things. Until recently, gender was a characteristic of some languages (such as French) where nouns are assigned masculine or feminine according to certain criteria. It has nothing to do with sex, as in the sex of a baby. That is how I use the word: neither humans nor animals have gender.

Languages no longer assigning genders to parts of speech nevertheless still have a word "gender" for the very simple reason so that we can describe what happens in other languages – or our own language as it was a thousand years ago I suppose. That's what the word signifies.

For others, they assign some other meaning to this word (and many other words) with the predictable result that no one knows what they're talking about. Neither do they, because they all assign whatever meanings they fancy to any word they like and here we are in a sort of reverse tower of Babel.

As Sister Mitza has so patiently explained, you were not "given" a gender - or even "assigned" one, as the scientifically illiterate allege - at birth, or at any other time for that matter. Your sex was determined at the time of your conception, through the interaction of God's Holy Will with biology (which comes from God, and therefore amounts to the same thing).
I do admit, neither I nor my mother has done many “actual domestic duties” as my father has always made sure we’ve had maids, chefs…etc, and such for it.
As you say, this may be a problem, not least because of Proverbs 31. On a practical level, though, it is always wise for a Christian woman to be competent in household matters. What would happen if you and your currently non-existent family found yourselves in squalid conditions in a hostage situation? Would you expect Somali pirates to provide food cooked just the way you like it, and to do your laundry?

Young women these days are sadly impractical. As are trousers for women, but that's a whole other subject.

I think you will find most members f the Church are above average intelligence, hence our unwavering devotion to God. Only smart people 'know the True Score(tm)' when it comes to Jesus.
Identifying a gender without flipping a person over and physically checking is easy.

                    • Do they wear a dress?
                    • Do they have 'that smell?
                    • Are they vacant in the eyes?
                    • Do they not understand the simplest of things?
                    • When the phone rings, do they answer the iron?

There are a lot more tell tale signs but these are the biggies. God endeavored to make life easy for all people and thusly, ensured gender identification is simple.
