    Oven temperature is too high.

Time to try baking a pie again, I guess - the last one failed miserably, heh
You aren't banging the oven door and making the pie drop, are you?

Literally Lycia means woman from Lycia. Lycia was a country in Asia Minor and is mentioned in the New Testament. It partly lies in present day Turkey.

I have a solution for you. Freya means woman or lady. It is the equivalent of Eve. No one here will doubt that Eve is a biblical name. From now on I think I will call you. The Roman counterpart of Freya was called the the Magna Mater, a title eventually given to Mary. But because of that close association with the Mary-worshiping, ring-kissing, altar-boy-raping papists, that name is not beloved here at Landover Baptist Church. So Eve it will be.

So Eve, how do you like your new name? And welcome to the friendliest place this side of anywhere.

    Good morning Freya!

I am sure that there are many Landover men who will be happy to sample your pie when you are ready. Nothing like a nice, warm, moist, fresh pie!

I too am quite taken by the heartwarming story of your parents' death. I sometimes feel that if there were more "direct action" incidents like that, more people would come to the Lord.

    Yours in Christ,

I assume you're talking to me?

My parents named me after a character in a poem by an old English playwright. It's been so long since I've even thought about this that I forget who the playwright was, though.

But really, I would have preferred something along the lines of "Ruth", "Deborah" or "Priscilla".

    Your's in Him,

    Lycia

Hey, if I could have chosen my name, do you think I would have picked something weird like "Lycia"?

I too know the shame of having Godmocker parents and being stuck with a strange, non-American name. My name is my name however, and changing it would be not be a good way to honor my mother and father, no matter how useless they are.

Just something to think about there.

EDIT: Of course, I am a woman, so what do I know!

Greetings, Freya! Or, may I say, "What's up, DOC?"

    Sorry.

So far as your name goes . . . Are your parents Christian? If so, you should certainly consult with them out of respect. If not, then you should choose a name you feel suits you best. There are many Biblical names for women, like Ruth, or Rachel, or Esther, or Jezebel.

I would take a normal name like Rebbecca. You just can't be too sure.

Praise God and welcome, Freya. That is an exemplary introduction! Well done.

What is the best pie you bake? When will your grandfather marry you away and to who?
