Re: Greetings, fellow inhabitants of the LORD's square Earth

    Consistency is important.

Landover Baptist is the only consistent Christian church on earth, that's how you know it's the real deal!

Well at least you take the mythical to it absurd but consistent end. You would have loved the men that persecuted Galileo Galile and you have been in an good cosmological position to fit in with high middle age christians.

Are you for real? Of course it has been documented in Bible, silly.

While the Earth has always seemed flat to me, I never imagined that it would be a square. The sun and the moon appear to be round, so it would make sense that the Earth is round, too. If the Earth was square I imagine that the corners would start to erode and then it would eventually become a circle. Maybe it started out as a square?

An alternate possibility is that the Earth has a circular border, and that the Four Corners of the Earth in Rev 7:1 stick out past the boundary where the firmament meets the ground, like so:

The very word in Hebrew for firmament רקיע (rakia) means expanse from vaulted or pounded helmet literally. Brother Alex is quite right and you are quite wrong. Naturally the audience, for which the interpreters of the 1611 King James Bible wrote, would have understood that. Naturally with your limited exposure to those times and Scripture itself you lose some perspective.

Quite true you can interpret circle to mean triangle if you wish, but since the 1611 King James Bible was translated properly, True Christians(tm) know there is no need to interpret those God-breathed words.

I suppose you mean square tents like these:

What Dr. Jones was only pointing out is that we do not base our opinions on apocryphal scripture as the opening poster stated.

Tracer, you might be correct in your observations but one can never be sure. It could be that the Earth is square-shaped but then again, as Isaiah 40:22 clearly states, the Earth might as well be disk-shaped.

My cosmological studies have shown, however, that "the four corners" of the Earth are most likely referring to certain geographical points within the circle, forming a square if lines are drawn between them.

It might also be that the Earth itself is square-shaped while the dome-tent is circular-shaped. Only God knows for sure.
