  • Hello from A Person Unsure!

Hello everyone! As you can clearly see from the title, I'm a very unsure person. I've hit that period in my life (late teens) where I'm obviously questioning my faith and wondering what else is in the world. I was directed here by a post about video games and before I get attacked, I thought the argument seemed a little outrageous. But I digress...

I live in Canada and play a lot of sports, including varsity basketball. Went to Catholic schools all my life and I must say I enjoyed religion class probably most of all. One of my teachers was very kind and didn't care really what people believed. She wasn't trying to force her beliefs on us but just educate us about our options out there. That was what got me first really into the faith I had been a part of for so long.

As I'm sure you can all imagine, I'm a teenager. Thankfully, I don't do drugs, smoke or engage in any...unruly activities. Partly because I spend a lot of time in the gym and partly because I'm an avid video gamer. I'm currently in a program called Video Game Art and it's pretty fun. I think I'd rather be playing video games inside with my friends than going outside and doing drugs, just saying. I'm also very much into anime/manga (Japanese animation for those who are unsure). I really enjoy making beautiful outfits for friends or in my spare time.

I just wanted to come and hear some more things about Christianity (and hopefully not get attacked by verses from the Bible for what my lifestyle is).

I guess I can put why I'm so interested in Christianity. I look to the Bible (mostly First Testament) as stories, life lessons that I can look to when I have problems. However, one of my favourite things about Christianity are the Angels. I even painted a portrait of Michael in grade 12 (which was very fun I might add).

So yeah...don't freak out on me or nothing. I just want to get to know things better. ^__^

I learned from my Religion teacher that Agnostic people aren't Atheist. They're just people who don't really know what they want to believe in. They don't criticize either group but are open to any opinions a person might have.

Well, that does not change the fact that, unless you repent and accept Jesus Christ, you are going to roast in hell for all eternity.

This is what I was referring to by an attack...I would much rather take my time and understand what I'm going to be following than have it forced down my throat. I'm not trying to be offensive but I would much rather have someone talk to me and speak their own thoughts.

Isn't that typical of those lesbian catlick sisters. I'm sorry you've been molested inyour youth and remember Jesus will forgive you for your sexual deviance if you fall on your knees and pray for salvation. I strongly suggest you contact one of our Pastors for ex-gay counselling.

Wow...thank you for saying I was a lesbian. I have never had a boyfriend in my life so far since I'm waiting for the right one and I'm a virgin. Do not presume to know anything about my life when you don't even know my name. I'm willing to take advice but not when insults are going to follow it.

                Me too!

My favorite is Numbers 31, where God has Moses command the Israelites to slaughter the Midianites because they left God and went to worship someone else. Not just the men, but also all the non-virgin women, all the pregnant women, and all the boys, even the babies! He then allowed his men to forcibly marry (that is, rape) all the virgin girls of any age, to make sure they got pregnant by Godly men!

Whenever I read that, I remember what God wants and I pray for the day we live under God's Law, expelling all non-Christians from the United States, and executing all apostates, as He commands!

What's your favorite Bible story, and how do you apply it to your life?

However, one of my favourite things about Christianity are the Angels. I even painted a portrait of Michael in grade 12 (which was very fun I might add).
I bet it was! Did your classmates have nightmares?

Lists the known facts of three types of angels: God appearing as an angel, angels as God's messengers to people, and angels who remain in God's presence. Includes descriptions from the Bible of cherubim, seraphim, archangels, Michael, and Gabriel.

There are celestial beings who are constantly in God’s presence. One type of these beings is called the cherubim. The vision many of us have today when we hear the word “cherub” is a chubby little two-year-old with wings. Yet, the Bible’s description of a cherubim will shock anyone who has not already read the Bible’s description. Although once again described as having “the likeness of a man,” cherubim also:

                Have four different faces.
                Have four wings.

Read Ezekiel chapters 1 and 10 to see what we mean. (These are definitely two of the coolest chapters in the Old Testament.) By the way, Ezekiel 10:20-22 confirms that the “living creatures” in chapter 1 and the “cherubim” in chapter 10 are the same thing.

The Bible refers to another type of angel, the seraphim, in Isaiah chapter 6. The description reveals that seraphim have six wings, a face, feet, hands, can fly and speak, and can be stationed at God’s throne. That still leaves us without knowing what the seraphim’s normal responsibilities are or what one looks like. (With the description we have, seraphim could physically resemble humans with six wings, cherubim with one face and two “extra” wings, or something else.)

So you're saying your religion teacher didn't have a dictionary, and never bothered to look up "gnostic" or "agnostic", and did not understand that a gnostic believes people can know God, and agnostic believes the opposite -- that humans CANNOT know God?

I suggest you write your religion "teacher" and thank her for failing to educate you.

Re: Hello from A Person Unsure!

Thank you for the kind reply. It's nice to know that people take the time out of their busy lives to read what I have to write.

[QUOTE=Rev. M. Rodimer;751043]What's your favorite Bible story, and how do you apply it to your life?
                    [\QUOTE]

My favourite has to probably be the story of Noah and the Arc. I see it as a story of determination and even though times may seem bleak and hopeless, there is always a light for those willing to look. I mean, he only had so much time to build an arc and instead of giving up, he knew what he had to do and did it. It's a very inspiring story.

[QUOTE=Rev. M. Rodimer;751043]I bet it was! Did your classmates have nightmares?[\QUOTE]

Funny you say that. The school's priest said it was a very well done work of art and very accurate. I ended up donating it to my local church.

[QUOTE=Rev. M. Well she didn't seem that bad when I talked to her. (This was two years ago.) She said that God would guide me to the right decision and I suppose she was right about that at least since I am sitting here typing this out.

Well, God did give him a hundred years. Noah may well have been the first government worker.

What I like about that story is that God gave Noah 100 years to build that ark, and in that whole time there's no evidence in the Bible that he went out and warned a single neighbor that God was going to drown them!

And then God killed every last wicked person, and bunny, and tree, and bird! And all the pre-born babies that hadn't even sinned yet, because He knew they'd all be wicked anyway!

Just imagine, all those people running up hills, climbing trees, watching the water come slowly higher and higher, losing grip on their toddlers and watching them die, knowing that it was only a matter of time before they too would choke on God's Wrath. Just like those people in New Orleans after Katrina, or even the ones along the Mississippi now!

After all, it wouldn't have been fast, like the tsunami in Japan.

It IS an inspirational story, I have to agree.

Funny you say that. The school's priest said it was a very well done work of art and very accurate. I ended up donating it to my local church.
Did it look anything like the Biblical descriptions of angels I provided you?

Oh, wait. You were going to a Catholic school, huh? Sorry, silly question. Catholics reading the Bible! HA!

It's a start. I can't imagine she taught you much of value, if she didn't even know what an agnostic is.

Really? You come onto a Christian board, with a picture of a Japanese Lolita with a penis and become offended because we quote scripture at you?

Why don't you go read the entire KJV Bible and decide from there whether or not you want to become a True Christian(TM) and go to Heaven. Of course there's always the alternative

Sister, I think that's the sort of "angel" she's been taught about by her religion "teacher".

                            You know, the made-up kind.

The poor girl has been brainwashed with lies by Catholics. Let's cut her a little slack; she seems interested in learning the truth about God and Jesus.

                              @ Rev. M. Rodimer
Yeah imagine Catholics reading the Bible! It seems like you're a very reasonably Christian, possibly one that will definitely convince me of the right path to walk on.

I'm also glad that you're willing to give me a chance. I've talked to a couple more Christians before coming on here and one Church even kicked me out saying, "There was no hope for me since it's too late to even begin considering changing. You should just crawl in a hole and wait for Christ to send you to hell for your sins." Obviously this didn't leave a very good impression with me.

                              @BelieverInGod
I'm sorry if a picture of a girl just sitting there with cute little angel wings has offended you. This is not lolita. As an anime fan, I know what lolita is and this picture is as much a crime as posting a picture of a baby angel as my profile picture. I was simply trying to post a picture that I thought most reflected who I was.

Also, I was not referring to the fact he was 'quoting scripture at me'. I was more offended by the way he said that I should think about my sins.

"Well, that does not change the fact that, unless you repent and accept Jesus Christ, you are going to roast in hell for all eternity."

That is not the way to talk to a person, regardless of their beliefs. I might be ignorant but that's almost what an atheist would say when they mock a Christian which is just as bad as Christians mocking others. It's just a matter of being Christ-like.

But perhaps this is simply the lies that my religion 'teacher' has been telling me. It certainly seems that way
