The church has been wrong before: in 1992 the pope admitted Galileo was in fact right all along. What's to say in another few hundred years over half of modern science will once be again accepted by the church to be correct?

The persecution of Galileo was the only thing that the kiddy fiddling, Mary worshiping papists have ever got right. He should have been punished for spreading his ridiculous heliocentric views. When the pope said that Galileo was right he was calling the Bible a lie and spitting in God's face.

The Catholics have never been shy about calling the Bible a lie over the years when it suited their agenda of having a clergy composed purely of repressed closet homers bent on sodomising choirboys in a secret sex club. For that matter they've never been shy about plain old ignoring the Bible and making it up as they went along.
