Re: Hello
Welcome Cap'ncola
What's your favourite Bible verse, what inspires you? - the one that inspires me today is:
Leviticus 18:25
And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

It kinda sounds like Universalism. It makes me want to puke.Originally posted by CapnKoala View Post
Religious syncretism is the policy of, in stead of following a certain set of beliefs, allowing your beliefs to be fluid and changing as you grow spiritually and intellectually. It's also about allowing new wisdom and knowledge to come from any source and any faith.
Jesus tells us this:
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
In other words, most paths lead to eternal damnation. Only Jesus leads to everlasting life.

Re: Hello
Well, from my point of view it would be foolish to tie oneself down to a rigid dogma rather than using one's own intellect to determine what one truly believes. I make a point to keep an open mind when it comes to religion, because in my opinion, truth can come from anywhere, even what was once viewed as a cult or false religion. My friend, do you understand what your blasphemy will earn you in the sulfurous lakes of fire in Hell? There will be no second chance.

What on Earth is religious syncretinism?Originally posted by CapnKoala View PostHello everyone,
I suppose it's best to get this out of the way first, I am not a Christian. I do not subscribe to any particular religion. I practice a policy of religious syncretism, absorbing new beliefs into my own as I discover and evaluate them. I am here first and foremost for interfaith discussion and hopefully spiritual betterment. I feel the need to make it clear that I am NOT here for argument, I am NOT here to flame this forum, and I am certainly NOT here to disparage those who subscribe to the beliefs of the LBC, or any church. I'm just here to have good-natured, friendly discussion with the people here about mine and their beliefs.
With that said, it's good to be here.

No, it's just a nickname I got in high school. It doesn't mean anything so don't think too hard about it.
