my name is Helen and i'm 17, i live in st johns, newfoundland and my family are all baptists, but i'm starting to question this since i'm now being forced into a marriage to a guy that's nearly twice my age.
he's 30 and he's already been married, but his wife died of cancer a couple years ago, and i feel bad for her and stuff, but i don't like him.
he's a totaly jerk, i've only met him once and he's loud, obnoxious, full of himself, and just an all around jerk. He looks at me like i'm his and that i'm an object and i just don't like that. now i'm being forced to marry him.
all my friends at school are looking at colleges and stuff and i'm being forced to marry. i dont want to, especially not to him. i'm only 17, i've never been out of newfoundland and i simply can't stand him.
my friends parents have offered to take me in, but i'm scared that if i run away, they'd come after me.
i'm only a year away from graduating high school and now i'm going to have to spending the rest of my life cleaning and cooking for this sad excuse of a man. i hate him. i really do. i didn't like him when i met him and now that i have to marry him, i hate him even more.

i escaped with a black eye and my dignity.
i'm at my, friend Garreth's house now. they took me right in, i came to the door and the immediately brought me to my room and his mum came in and talked to me and stuff. it feels like something out of movie, but i'm happier now. by this morning, all my friends at school all knew and as soon as i walked in everyone started applauding for me. people who didn't know me were so confused but i dont care, it's nice to know that i have so much support.

and yes i have been to dildo, small town, it's cute. it was named that long before the invention of the dildo and it wasn't even made there.

Helen, I'm no stranger to Newfoundland and may have some advice that may temporarily help you. If you do some checking, you will find a town in Newfoundland named "Dildo"(not kidding). Perhaps a trip there may help you to find a solution to your dilema. I have several friends that live in Burgeo that make frequent trips to Dildo for some reason and seem to return fulfilled. Newfoundland is a unique place where everything smells like codfish, an aquired smell, that reminds this Christian of the time baby Jesus fed five thousand people with five fish. Codfish also bring back memories of my honeymoon in lovely Newfoundland!
