Two things here.
1. Green Day has been around since 1987. Not exactly new.

2. They aren't metal. They're punk rock, there is a distinctive difference.

Green Day is one of my favorite bands. They, along with My Chemical Romance, Slipknot, Linkin Park, and Avenged Sevenfold, changed my life.
Green Day are beyond amazing. And to blame them for anti soial behaviour and violence, is ridiclious.
