I.e. you refer to (tiny bits of) the Bible when it suits your purposes, and feel completely justified in ignoring the rest.

And then you call others hypocrites!

Where the h*** are they coming from this week? It's comedy fargin' gold!

So when scientists with all of their lab coats and set squares tell us that people cannot come back from the dead we must discount the Resurection?

So that's your excuse for not going to church. Jesus taught neither of those things. Of His church He said:

Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Mat 18:17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

    And of Scripture He said:

Jn 10:35-36 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

If you're going to make assertions about what Jesus taught, please quote or reference Scripture.

As such, we should not take it literally, but draw upon it for wisdom and interpret it ourselves. When presented with facts that clash with our beliefs, we should reevaluate our beliefs and change them accordingly.
How would you like it if we didn't take your post literally and interpreted it for ourselves? If facts clash with our beliefs, then the facts should be reevaluated and changed accordingly.

Oh, and my favorite Bible passage is Matthew 7:1-2.
You need to read The Most MISUNDERSTOOD Passage in All the Bible (Matthew 7:1-5)

I am not, nor have I ever been "on the drugs," nor do I pretend to know everything. I am also not a hypocrite, and am a little too old to care what my parents would think about my registering on a religious site. I apologize if my posts seem are too intelligent or well-worded for you to follow, at least that's my assumption toward you calling me a know-it-all. In what way is that an insult, if I may ask?

    Devout

In that I believe in religion as taught by Jesus, i.e., churches are corrupt, and the Bible was written by man and therefore flawed. As such, we should not take it literally, but draw upon it for wisdom and interpret it ourselves. When presented with facts that clash with our beliefs, we should reevaluate our beliefs and change them accordingly. For instance, the Earth is no more the center of the universe than it is the center of our own solar system. Not only is this fact, but nowhere in the Bible does it actually state that the Earth is the center of the universe. To believe otherwise is a level of naivety that is astounding to me.

Oh, and my favorite Bible passage is Matthew 7:1-2.

"Judge not, that ye may not be judged, for in what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged, and in what measure ye measure, it shall be measured to you."

I honestly only registered for this forum after having been led here by a friend. I must say I am disgusted with the level of bigotry, racism, and hate amongst a Christian group. You are half a chromosome away from being the Westboro Baptist church. Unless of course, you also believe that our soldiers in Afghanistan are dying because God is angry at America for allowing gay marriage, in which case you are right there with them.

And yes, I did read the "BEFORE YOU FLAME US" post. It did not help your case. Inventing statistics and polling small groups of like-minded people does not impress me.

Although the government is lying to us about the events that occurred in Roswell. A military surveillance balloon? Suuuuuuuure.
