You're right. I've been listening to what YOU and others on this forum have to say about what's in the Bible. But I don't care. I've already told you I DO read it for myself. Why is your memory so terrible?

It's not necessarily that he doesn't remember what you claim, it's just that the content of your messages suggests that you haven't actually read the whole Bible, just memorized a few passages which fit what you think religion should be.

Unfortunately for you, the Holy Bible is not like a basket of sweets on Halloween, from which you pick just your favorite, but a complete set - you have to accept it all, or it doesn't count.

I completely agree with your last statement. But I don't really think it's unfortunate. I agree with some parts of the Bible. I disagree with others. But I don't believe the Bible is the word of God. I consider it fiction.

You say you agree with me, and yet you say you agree with some parts of the Bible and disagree with others...? Don't you see a contradiction in what you are saying?

Besides, in order to agree/disagree with the Bible you would have to actually have read it. Which I don't think you did.

Besides, in order to agree/disagree with the Bible you would have to actually have read it. Which I don't think you did.

I agree with certain ideas in the Bible, like the idea of love and forgiveness. I don't agree with all the hate, murder, rape, and oppression in the Bible. I only agree with the ideas. Frankly, I don't understand how the Bible can talk about love and forgiveness one minute, then preach rape and murder the next. We pick and choose what we believe in all the time as far as morality goes, but I don't get my morality from the Bible. SOME of my morals are found in the Bible, however. Like love, being kind to others, being compassionate, and forgiveness.

That's easy, sweetie. Love and compassion applies only within the Christian community, dear. God allows - actually, commands - us to kill or at least enslave everybody else.

Exactly. I don't agree with that. I think it's wrong to kill and enslave others, so obviously I can't be a Christian or believe in god. How can love exist alongside hate? One can't live while the other survives.
