If someone is broke and claiming to have God in their lives, then they are clearly not Jesus-ing right. Christians are specifically promised abundance if they obey The Lord and His commands. Scarcity and want are signs that Jesus is not happy with a person's efforts.

So true, Sister Handmaiden. Jesus waits for those with no money ready to help. There are endless stories out there of people who came to Jesus, gave a TV evangelist their last $5 and received a job offer the next day. Receive Jesus and tithe and you are on you way up.

I'm grateful for your pro-active approach to homelessness, and I'm sure others are. And who knows? Your message could well save certain people from taking up this unsustainable lifestyle.

I am wondering how this affects women. I cannot see that a man can be "brawling" - he merely asserts his authority over women. Perhaps there is a husband in the background who has expelled his wife and commanded her to live on the roof - I must say this seems preferable to living on the roof oneself.

The woman lives inside a grocery store sign. She had been living there for a year but was just chased out by local police.

This story is about the tough time poor people, especially the elderly, are having. I've read several million old people who have no money except their social security will retire in the next few years. These people will be living in their cars or under bridges. Mayors like me who care about people and follow all this carefully.

I have two positions on these unfortunate old people. First, they themselves need to find a place to live. Second, we do not want them in Freehold. Anyone found sleeping in his or her car will be sent packing. I hope this is inspirational to old people and will give them the encouragement they need to find some money and get off the streets.
