  • Repealing Outdated Laws

Inspired by http://www.commongood.org/pages/the-problem and the fact that there has been some discussion recently of the amount of interference by Big Government with We The People, I thought it might be appropriate to abolish some unneeded laws instituted by the township of Landover.

From your history lessons, you will be aware of the unique status of Landover that I laid out earlier when dismissing an atheist trouble-maker: http://www.landoverbaptist.net/showp...7&postcount=32,
After some discussion with the late Pastor Deacon Aaron Carver and some very prominent members of the then majority party of the administration (who were members of Landover), it was responsibly agreed that Landover should be integrated into the Union, and, when that integration was complete, peace should be declared on terms agreeable to Landover.
These negotiations are still in the early stages but, to facilitate that integration, there is a possibility that some laws not immediately applicable might be repealed.

I would caution against knee-jerk reaction: I, myself, had been in favour of the abolition of the law prohibiting the transporting of a dead horse, uncovered, on an open cart, within the township boundaries, on a Sunday, in a season other than winter (Ord. #11239, 1812) but I was informed that as recently as 1932, there had been a conviction.

I received what I can only think was a piece of impertinence suggesting that the absolute restriction on fornication in a cornfield be lifted but this would lead to vileness beyond belief and no one would ever eat a corn dog again.

One of my tenants mentioned that the law of 1719, forbidding the wearing of cloth of mixed fiber might be repealed due to the difficulty of finding, at a fair price, such cloth and clothing: he has since been evicted.

One confused woman did ask that there be some public hygiene laws for restaurants but as we know

    M'r:7:18: And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
M'r:7:19: Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
M'r:7:20: And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
M'r:7:21: For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
M'r:7:22: Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
M'r:7:23: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

So, if you have any sensible suggestions, let me know.

    Re: Repealing Outdated Laws

The last time I was in Freehold, I noticed a few teenagers who didn't stand up when an elderly man walked by, as the Bible requires:

Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:32

Do we have a law on the books that deals with this shameful behavior? If not, we ought to.

I'll tell you this, if I'd shone that kind of disrespect when I was a youngster in Freehold, law or not, the nearest adult would have grabbed a public beating rod, pulled my trousers down, and delivered me a whipping that I wouldn't soon have forgotten.

I can't think of any Biblical laws that I'd want to repeal. Mostly I'd like to get rid of outdated secular laws such as the 13th Amendment.
