  • Is Franklin Graham's "Route 66 Tour" Really a Success?

    Christian sites are full of praise for Franklin Graham's evangelistic tour along the famous Route 66. Headlines shout, "Thousands convert at Franklin events."

    I've been calling Mayors I know along Route 66. I been asking them what kind of cliental show up and claim to be saved. They confirm my suspicions.

    Along Route 66 are towns and cities with large populations of Indians and Hispanics. Pictures of Graham's crusade show a goodly proportion of non white attendees. And, believe me, they do not look prosperous.

    I think its time to dial back Graham's crusade and concentrate on the sermons by our own Pastor Zeke. Commitments of Northern European stock to Jesus and overflowing collection plates are the real signs of success.

    Brother, that does not look like "thousands" to me. Maybe hundreds over a week. Maybe. It's faintly pathetic to see a Graham draw such weak crowds and of such low quality.
    If I have seen further, it is by standing on the heads of others.

      Hold on there Brother Mayor Hold. Sure, those darker-hued people (brownies) may not have much money, but they do have votes. All minorities vote as a bloc for the Demoncrats, but evangelicals like us vote Republican. Eternal soul trumps earthly race (Galatians 3:28), so beaner evangelicals will vote for GOP candidates (like Ted Cruz, a beaner evangelical GOP candidate). These mud people may not be able to directly fill the coffers of righteous churches like LBC, but their political strength may help elect politicians who will lower our crushing tax burden (highest in the world), leaving us more to tithe to our beloved pastors. And besides, they're just beaning it up and Franklin Graham's revivals, it's not like they'd be attending Landover Baptist Church and sitting in the same pews as white women and children.

      The lawns in Heaven will need mowing, and the toilets will need scrubbing too. Hispanics will have an eternal place in God's kingdom.
      I was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful shore,
      Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more;
      But the Master of the Sea heard my despairing cry,
      From the waters lifted me, now safe am I!

        The number of the beast, 666, starts with 66. Brother Graham is a good man (unlike his fluffy-bunny Christian father Billy, who is burning in Hell for his many liberal views even as we speak). But this tour is badly conceived numerologically. I'm staying away.

          I don't know why Brother Graham did not take this number of the beast, 666, into account. Route 666 is also the focus of some suspicious secular music. What else can "Get Your Kicks from Route 66" mean except drugs along that road. I hope he vetted his roadies well before the tour.

          Then there was the song during the anti Vietnam War period popular with communist leaning young people. It referred to getting high on pot in Winslow, Arizona:

            Franklin's tour is finishing up. Did he make even a small dent in the sin along Route 666? Hardly. Right where one would least expect it, in the middle of the desert, homerism is flourishing. That's Barstow, CA:
