Mayor of West Fargo, ND, Called: $600K Gone

My friend, Mayor Bernie Dardis, from up in ND called yesterday. He was distraught. He told me he has tried to keep liberal churches out of his city but they come in anyway and the trouble begins.

He has a Lutheran church there in West Fargo with a woman as pastor and women as business manager and treasurer. Recently, the church found the business manager had spent $640,000 over some years on vacations and clothes. Bernie wondered how I have been able to keep liberal churches, churches that have women preachers, out of Freehold.

I listened to Bernie for a long time and offered my sympathy. Keeping bad religion out of a city is imperative. I suggested he work with the men in that church to bring some real muscle back and get things straightened out. He now knows he needs to watch for new churches that start down the road of sin.

Church business manager charged with allegedly embezzling $600K | U.S.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

I am sympathetic, of course, but the Church also needs go-getters like Carly. I expect the President to issue a pardon forthwith, upon production of a valid credit card.
If I have seen further, it is by standing on the heads of others.

Not wishing to be devil's advocate here – but $640K doesn't seem that much, especially when averaged over several years. A simple lace collar from Bruges (with embroidery) for instance is well into the four figures and for those in leadership positions (whether one agrees with the job description or not) a distinctive style is critical. With millinery to suit and appropriate footwear, what are we talking? A dozen outfits, maybe? This is nitpicking gone loco.
