    Mayor's Thoughts on Art

It won't be long before Freehold will show off its fine fall colors. The uniform lawns will turn brown at the same time, and, because we all plant the same flowers, they will fade like they are under the direction of a might conductor (they really are, of course).

I so fortunate to be invited into Freehold homes often. The great food and conversation is one of the gifts of this job.

One thing I've noticed in homes is of a little concern. It is the increasing number of abstract art works above living room sofas.

It is my view we need to use the display of art to further our Christian faith. If art does not portray anything, how can it make people more Christian?

And, it not like there are not enough real scenes we can display. There is the old man saying grace, leaves, flowers, fruit bowls and, of course, Jesus himself.

My thought is, don't leave guest confused about what your faith is by displaying art that might have been painted by an atheist. Display real art.

Mayor Hold, While I am not one to push any shop more than another I have found a Christian Art Shop called Jesus Art that have great works at reasonable prices. Most of these prints can be purchased for under $20 and they have hundreds to choose from. Actually I was thinking of adding a new wallhanging or 2. Being a bachelor you might think that there would not be much to suit a single mans tastes.I have narrowed it down to 2 manly prints

They have something for everybody there at a reasonable price and produced by Christian Artists.

I have only one painting in my single-wide. I made it myself from a paint by numbers kit.

That's a little stronger than a Mayor might say it, but your ask a mighty fine question.

Brothers Davis and Tanner--Thank you for those posts.

You prove my point that good art is available to everyone at reasonable prices.

There is no reason to display works of lesser quality.
