Summer is rodeo season in Iowa.
I don't want to discourage our citizens in Freehold from taking day trips to watch the rodeos. Mostly, the represent man's dominance over animals, as God tells us to do in the Bible. It is healthy to see large masculine cowboys wrestle and twist the necks of small calves until their reflexes are cut off and they fall.
I'm concerned about one aspect of the rodeo presentation, however. It is the rodeo clown.
While I'm not a theologian, I half to say the costume and make up on rodeo clowns is very similar to the way satan looks in pictures. The clowns have everything but the forked tail.
I guess there is no way to avoid seeing these portrayals of Satan. It would be best if we do not cheer for their fake tricks and stunts.
It is an honor to serve you, the fine citizens of Freehold.
