Day 244. Ezekiel 7-9

Ezekiel 7-9

Ezekiel 7

God said to Ezekiel.

3 Now is the end come upon thee, and I will send mine anger upon thee, and will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense upon thee all thine abominations.

God is mad, and he's not going to take it anymore.

God might want to consider some anger management counseling, but who is able to counsel the lord?

4 And mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity: but I will recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

Remember this all you people who think the LORD is all happy, and forgiving. I WILL RECOMPENSE THY WAYS UPON THEE.

5 Thus saith the Lord GOD; An evil, an only evil, behold, is come.

6 An end is come, the end is come: it watcheth for thee; behold, it is come.

8 Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger upon thee: and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense thee for all thine abominations.

You brought the destruction upon yourself.

15 The sword is without, and the pestilence and the famine within: he that is in the field shall die with the sword; and he that is in the city, famine and pestilence shall devour him.

16 But they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them mourning, every one for his iniquity.

Remember back to Jeremiah, where people who went out to try to get food from their farms got slaughtered, but people who stayed inside starved. Although some people did escape.

21 And I will give it into the hands of the strangers for a prey, and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil; and they shall pollute it.

That'd be Babylon.

Ezekiel 8

Ezekiel was just sitting there with the elders of Judah, and he had a vision from the LORD.

2 Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.

3 And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.

Some people claim that Ezekiel had epilepsy. Perhaps he had a condition similar, called PROPHECY!!! They may be similar, but one is a condition that is probably brought on by sin of parents, the other is a condition brought on by God needing a mouthpiece.

God then shows him visions of abominations that the people were doing.

7 And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.

Wait, the fence around heaven has holes in it? This can't be a good thing. I know this atheist guy who claims that even if there is a hell, that if he's got all eternity to work with, that he'll escape from hell. Well, if the wall around heaven has holes, how good is the security of hell?

8 Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.

God needs a new contractor. Surely he could have gotten someone better to build the wall. Now, Ezekiel, who isn't even fully in heaven he's just kind of visiting, is tearing down parts of the wall.

It's no wonder the walls of Jerusalem came down, their god couldn't even build a wall in heaven to keep people in.

God then shows him abominations in verses 9, 13, 15, and culminating with sun worship in verse 16.

Ezekiel 9

1 He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand.

What a horrible trip Ezekiel must have been on. First he's viewing all kinds of abominations, then God had ALL CAPS ON!!!

2 And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brasen altar.

Apparently an inkhorn is about as technologically advanced as heaven is for writing. Why didn't he have a sharpie ®.

4 And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

The good people got a mark of the NOT THE BEAST. The people without marks were then slaughtered by the people with the slaughter weapons.

9 Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth, and the LORD seeth not.

10 And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will recompense their way upon their head.

Remember, God rewards everyone for what they do. Not just what they believe.

So what have we learned today?

1. God might possibly need anger management counseling. Except that He's the smartest one in the room, so if he goes out and smites some people, then they really deserve it, so he doesn't really need counseling.

2. The walls of heaven need some repair.

3. The mark of the not the beast is a good thing to have on your head.

Well I am sure God, with His perfect knowledge, has had interventions with himself. At lest that is what I take Jesus baptism for; Jesus/God forgiving Himself for His sins (which include anger)

These verses get really confusing when you compare it to the New Testament. There are 14 references to the Son of Man (Jesus) in Mark.

There are 192 verses with "son of man" in the KJV (it appears in a couple of verses more than once). Whenever it refers directly to Jesus, the "s" in son is always capitalized.

Other times it can vary. The times in psalms, it is all lower case. It seems whenever "son of man" is used referring directly to a person, the S is capitalized. In Ezekiel 2:3 it's capital, but in Ezekiel 2:6 it's not. In verse 3 the LORD spoke directly to Ezekiel.

Ezekiel 2:3 And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.

Then in verse 6 it's more general aimed at people in general.

Ezekiel 2:6 And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

(bolding is mine)

Just remember, if it's in the Old Testament, it's not necessarily referring to Jesus, it's saying "Hey Human, yeah you". Since God isn't a man.

Jesus is call "son of man" because, remember, he was born to a woman.

Hope this helps

Wow, there's even peep-shows in heaven? Being a prophet sure has it's perks. :)
