“The Blood of Olympus” – A Book review. Glorifying Adultery, Demon Worship and Homosexuality for Children

This is what children and young adults are reading at the moment in America, UK, Australia and other nations. The final volume of an extremely popular book series that takes place in the “Percy Jackson Universe” – an allegedly fictional world that is based on the mythos of ancient Greece and Rome. The final volume of this series was published on October 7(*) with three million copies. Three million children and teenagers are exposed to this via the printed media and countless more through electronic devices.

It is impossible to list everything that is so terribly wrong with this book and the series. This is probably one of the most deviously orchestrated attacks on Christian values and Christian parents ever. I’ll start with a short representation of this “fictional universe”.

In the world of Riordan Greek and Roman gods exist and are active. They frequently have sex with humans and produce offspring that are called demigods. All the main characters are these demigods in their teens. They have powers of witchcraft, supernormal strength and they constantly fight against monsters with their “divine” parents. The current series deals with the uprising of the Earth goddess Gaea and seven of these “demigods” battling her. Needless to say, they succeed and restore “order”. The main protagonist is called Percy Jackson and his popularity has been also led to two movies based on these books. The plot is, of course, naďve and stereotypical. The main characters go on a quest. The series is one large quest to destroy the goddess. Each book is a smaller quest and this is divided into tiny quests. Usually these quests involve gaining a “magical object” and meeting one of the Greek deities. These action-packed adventures are supplemented with teenage lust and romantic teenage relations arise constantly. The dialogue is packed with lame jokes and the setting with all kinds of “magical” creatures such as centaurs, fauns, mermaids, flying horses, etc.

Harry Potter once again? Another yawnfest packed with anti-Christian hazards. No. Much worse.
  • Item: Adultery. The “gods” never marry their human sex partners. They only breed out of wedlock. Basically, all the main characters are bastards (Exodus 20:14).
  • Item: Retarded main characters. All main characters have the ADHD lifestyle, supposedly to enhance their fighting skills, and dyslexia to “wire their brains to ancient Greek”. These “diseases” are, as we know, results of laziness and free choice and excuses for poor academic success (Proverbs 19:15).
  • Item: Idolatry. The books NEVER mention Jesus or the One and Only Real God, only these pagan deities. They are presented as fictional while we know that they are certainly very real. We also know they are not gods, thus, they are DEMONS. This means that the main characters are the result of hybridization between demons and humans. It’s demons fighting other demons and this is supposed to be “heroic” (Exodus 20:3).
  • Item: Hamites. Many protagonists are heroic Chinese, Hispanic or African characters, which is very unlikely and gives the impression that these nations had been given the same tasks as white Americans (Genesis 9:22-26).
  • Item: Bestiality. Many sidekicks are human-animal hybrids or demons resulting from interspecies sex (Leviticus 20:15).
All the above give our children the impression that adultery is OK if it’s with a demon, that it’s perfectly acceptable to invent excuses for poor reading and writing skills, that it is OK to have sex with animals and produce hideous monsters (Exodus 22:18). The author introduces dozens of demons, more in each chapter, to familiarize the kids with them and making them accept these spawns of Satan! In addition, the characters are all the time conjuring magic. While witchcraft per se is strictly forbidden in the Bible, this also gives kids a twisted world view. It basically removes all rational causality from the world. It suggests that cause and effect can be always broken with “magical” intervention and a “Deus ex machina” will be there to take care of the mess these teenagers get themselves into. This is all wrong, so wrong, so very wrong!

Harry Potter once again? No. Much worse.

SODOMY ALERT!

For 8 books the author seduced children with action, adventures, magic, feelings of abandonment by divine parents, visions of heroism and false friendships. I thought this was more than enough to ban these books and imprison all publishers. Then, in the middle of the ninth book: total depravity. The author pushes one of the protagonists out of the closet as a homosexual. The character called Nico di Angelo is supposedly the child of the god of death, Hades, i.e., Satan. He’s been rejected by everybody as he should be. Now he comes out as gay and, lo! No mention of Leviticus 20:13, not one word of sin! Only “support” and “acceptance”. Now, we come to the present volume. This minor character is suddenly center stage. He struggles with homosexuality but no prayers, no Biblical verses, no exorcism is depicted. Instead, he comes to “accept” himself and gets a “boyfriend”. In a children’s book! A rampaging queer!

What the author is communicating is as follows:
  • Teenagers can be homosexual and we should respect them.
  • Homosexual romance is no different from the heterosexual one.
  • Homosexual boys can be heroic and perform manly tasks.
  • The best friends are those who never question but only accept the homo lifestyle.
  • Homosexuals can be happy if the environment does not prevent them from that.
  • Teenagers have emotions and feelings that should be discussed and respected.
This is so wrong. Teenage kids should have no emotions apart from fear of God. Homoboys are interested in redecorating and earrings, not sword fights. The best friends are those that recite the Bible and tell the sinner that he must repent or burn in Hell. Romance is an excuse for adultery. Marriage is for the parents to negotiate and arrange. Three million copies. Sex, demons and homosexuals.

Is it really dangerous, one might ask. Is there any proof? Yes, there is. The kids have established fandom communities in the Interwebs. They are sending their fan art in the thousands. Guess what these drawings and stories depict? Oh, yes! The homosexual couple as “Cute, normal, adorable”. They are praising the author for this! They are lost. All is lost.

Nothing in the Christian community can mend this damage. Only Jesus can and will come Rapture. Jesus. Please. Come. Send these people to the Furnace where they belong. Do it now. Let them suffer. Please.

Elmer, this book is all about the greek gay deathstyle. I didn't even have to read the book, it's obvious from its cover. The negroe demon with the orange vest and dreadlocks is holding a giant phallus.

You can't judge SECULAR books by Christian standards. From a non Christian standpoint these books are harmless. America has religious freedom, so books are not published based of what religion say is okay. It's not a Christian book so it's totally innocent. Your twisted version of Christianity makes me sick.

OK, I'll bait, you sparked my curiosity.

Why?

This is a Christian forum so we do not care about non-Christian standpoints.

Yes, and we as Christians have the religious freedom to reject stuff which does not agree with our religion.

Well, according to your own argument, you have no right to judge us based on your standards. So please stop infringing on our religious freedom.

Parents teach their boys that it's okay to be feminine and so the line between anal sex and friendship dissapears.

I know some self-righteous atheist-types who insist that the Bible makes them sick. There's something about the Lord commanding genocides and favored men of God offering their daughters to be raped by marauding gangs that puts them off. Many of them object to the notion that a woman must have her hand cut off if she grabs a man by his giblets while he's beating up her husband.

Then there are the fluffy bunny Christian types who insist that the New Testament and/or Jesus make for a kinder, gentler religion. This group includes the oxymormonic homosexual Christians.

These types not only deny God's Sacred Writings of the Old Testament in direct defiance of God's Sacred Writings of the New Testament. (See 2 Timothy 3:16) They also deny and defy God's clear and specific condemnation of the behavior that characterizes their self-described identity written right there in the New Testament. (See Romans 1:27)

The real point here is that Landover Baptist doesn't twist Christianity. Landover Baptist illuminates Christianity. The problem that so many people have with us is the light we shine hurts their misty little eyes.

Under those circumstances, it becomes possible to see who's really twisting Christianity, and it ain't us.

Clear-Sightedly Yours,

Handmaiden
