Bible in a Year

Dearest Friends:

It has recently come to my attention that many of the unsaved ™ have never read the Bible (KJV1611) from cover to cover.

Well, I'd like to change that.

Through our partnership with Biblegateway.com, we will be presenting, to you, a plan to read the Bible (KJV1611) through and through.

If you follow this plan, in 365 days, you will have finished reading the entire Bible (KJV1611).

Each day, there will be new reading, and when you finish the reading, you can join in the discussion on the days readings.

Several of the Landover pastoral staff will be assisting in helping you to understand (without translating) what it is that you have just read.

I pray that you all will stick with this 365 day challenge, and don't shirk your Lord, when He's asking you to join HIM.

Praise Jesus!

Let the readings begin!

YIC

Posting verses every day on here sounds awesome to me. Planting seeds. Here's a site that has Bible study tools, including a page on reading the Bible in a year.

We appreciate the praise, friend. I also appreciate the link to your website. I've just skimmed it a little bit, but it looks like a good resource. I read your statement of faith and couldn't find anything I disagree with. Are you a five-point Calvinist? You clearly accept Perseverance of the Saints, but your statement of faith only hints at your stance on the other four points.

I'm glad to have you here, friend.

Re: Bible in a Year

I am pleased to announce that this Bible-in-a-Year program is being made into a daily devotional module for the free Sword Bible Study program. We plan on having it finished by mid-fall.

If you there is a particular part of the Bible that you would like to add commentary or ask questions about, and have it included in the module, please do so.

Questions and comments from non-Baptists are welcome just as long as they are not mocking in nature. In fact, they are not only welcome -- they are encouraged. Your questions and comments will present us with opportunities to clear up misunderstandings about God's Holy Word.

This is not a debate forum. If you ask a question and a Pastor answers it, or if you raise an objection and a Pastor addresses it, then the matter is settled as far as this forum is concerned. If you wish to continue the discussion, please do so in a new thread in another part of the board. If the discussion is fruitful, we will post excerpts of it here.

Any posts that are not fruitful discussions of the passage under discussion will be moderated.

You can check out the work in progress by following this link. It is currently finished up through the end of Leviticus (Day 38 / Feb 7th), but it is not too late to add your questions and comments for those days.

Once Brother V posts Day 365, we will announce in this thread the cut-off date for new comments to be included in the module. Any questions or comments posted after that date will be added to a future released version.

Thank you, and God Bless you.

One question:

When are we going to get into Tobit, Judith, Esther (Greek additions), Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch (and the Letter of Jeremiah), Additions to Daniel (Song of the Three Young Men, Susanna, Bel and the Dragon), and 1 & 2 Maccabees?

We are only covering the Bible here. If you want to talk about those texts, you can start your own threads in the False Religions and Cults forum.

When we talk about Revelations 22, we will be sure to point out that it is verse 18 that forbids anyone to add any "additions" to the Bible.

That same verse forbids anyone to subtract from the Bible...But that didn't stop those who didn't like the tough teachings in these books!

That's why we are covering all 66 books of God's Holy Word.

The liberal false Christians try to ignore books like Leviticus and Deuteronomy. They like to pretend that the Bible begins and ends with John 3:16

On the other hand, you have Catholics and Gnostics with reams of fan-fiction like Maccabees and the Gospel of Mary Magdalene. They like to pretend that those blasphemous works of man are real scripture.

The Revelation 22:18 is a warning against both of those groups of false Christians.
