I have a question about animals...
Ever since I started reading the KJV Bible I have been uncertain of this.
I have many pets; a german shepherd, a beagle, a couple of koi fish in the pond in our backyard, and a corn snake. Its the corn snake that worries me. Should I let it go back into the wild or can I still keep it. I dont want to go to hell because of a snake :( |
Re: I have a question about animals...
You're not a snake-handler, right? Then it's probably okay. I'd get rid of it though. Certain snake-shaped objects are banned in several states for a reason, and you never know where it might slither.

As a woman you should know very well what to do with the snake. Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. |
Re: I have a question about animals...
Dr. Laurie, I'm shocked that you didn't know this basic bit of Bible knowledge. This is the part of the Bible that comes BEFORE the begats, and everybody has read all the the Bible up to the begats.
I for one would not want to see any venom-dripping snake-bites on your precious ankles. (Though that's probably the only part of your body that hasn't already had some sort of toxin injected into it)... |
Re: I have a question about animals...
For True Christians™ there is little danger is snakes Lu:10:19: Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
As proof of Luke (above) Paul was attacked by a snake on Malta and remained unharmed: Ac:28:3: And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand. Ac:28:4: And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live. Ac:28:5: And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm. Ac:28:6: Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god. But they should never be given as presents, especially if the real request if for a pet fish: Lu:11:11: If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? |
Re: I have a question about animals...
Wait...then only venomous snakes are bad? Talahassee is not venomous, corn snakes are constricting snakes and they dont grow over five feet.
I would NEVER put my family in danger by having a venomous snake nor a large constricting one in my fathers home. No ofence to anyone that does own one, but I think that it is stupid to put such a dangerous (and expert escape artists) animal in a home. |
Re: I have a question about animals...
You could make boots from it, that would solve the problem. God appreciates a nice pair of boots.

Foolish me has grown attached to Tallahassee  My father just said that there is no problem keeping him, even more so because it was a gift from my grandpa and that grandpa would be angry/sad that I released something he worked hard to get just for me. I'm just so confused :o |
Re: I have a question about animals...
I can't find the exact quote and my brains not working very well today, but I believe if your father said that you can keep it then you are free from sin.
Give me a bit, I know it's in the Law somewhere. Edit: I knew it was there... Numbers 30 3 If a woman also vow a vow unto the LORD, and bind herself by a bond, being in her father's house in her youth; 4 And her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her; then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand. 5 But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and the LORD shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her. 6 And if she had at all an husband, when she vowed, or uttered ought out of her lips, wherewith she bound her soul; 7 And her husband heard it, and held his peace at her in the day that he heard it: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she bound her soul shall stand. 8 But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he heard it; then he shall make her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips, wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect: and the LORD shall forgive her. 9 But every vow of a widow, and of her that is divorced, wherewith they have bound their souls, shall stand against her. |
Re: I have a question about animals...
*sigh of relief* Thank you for all of your help!
Tallahassee and I are very happy now then. Hes happy that he has shelter and wont have to hunt for his own food and I'm happy that my little cold blooded friend will stay with me :D If my father allows, next time we go to the sugar cane fields and I see one, Ill bring it home too :D |
Re: I have a question about animals...
I know this thread is really old and hasnt been active since 2010 but if your still on here thank you for keeping Tallahassee dont ever get rid of it. Ball pythons and burmese pythons are the friendliest pets one could own their better than other animals to
Snakes are not evil to own even if the owner is christian |
Re: I have a question about animals...
Being a vegetarian is sinful. People like Hitler, Charles Manson and Gandhi were the perfect examples.
"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth" 1 Timothy 4:1-3 |

Re: I have a question about animals...
God-fearing men tolerate the workhorse for practical reasons, and accept a good hunting dog or two for obvious reasons. Every other animal is the friend of Satan. Jesus did not die for animals because they do not have souls and can't be trusted.
