Corporal punishment for children - Right or wrong?
I will keep this short and open to debate, is corporal punishment an acceptable means of disciplining your children?
There have been many protests against it but it does teach kids a quick lesson and makes them think twice before misbehaving again. For example, last year I took my 5 year old son to the builders yard while I bought some stuff for my new garage. He was running amok and kept jumping in the sand and getting it everywhere. I asked him to stop but the next day when we returned to buy more supplies he continued this behaviour so I grabbed him by the hair and forced his face into the sand and rubbed it into his eyes, then pulled my belt off and hit him as hard as I could across the back and legs as he lay face down in the sand. It worked! Now when we go there he always behaves and is like a model child. I felt a little guilty afterwards however I knew deep down that God could see I was doing it for the best and would forgive me. What are your views? |

Re: Corporal punishment for children - Right or wrong?
Had the child been looking at 'porno', the sand would of been appropriate. A hyper active child can often be calmed down by simply massaging the soles of the foot firmly with a switch. We have 12 kids so far and this method worked on every one.

The Bible is quite clear on the matter:
Proverbs 13: 24He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. Proverbs 23:13Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. 14Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. |

Well maybe taking a 5 year old to a builders yard wasn't a very good idea in the first place. But to hurt him the way you did is so cruel, you took things much too far.:shok: |
Re: Corporal punishment for children - Right or wrong?
Reveran, I agree with you on few things (I disagree with wife "discipline" as you call it, your views of Bethedsa's games, and various things), but this is one of the things I do agree with you on.

Whooping your kids is a parents duty. Otherwise they will grow up soft and weak and before you know it they will be voting for other soft and weak people. We'll have a socialist bank teller looking darky for President and the Democrats will be in charge of defending America from Islam.
It will be a Hell on earth for decent normal folks. |

Re: Corporal punishment for children - Right or wrong?
If you ask my opinion, corporal punishment on children should be a felony. No human being has a right to beat a child -- ever. It's simply an antiquated relic from primitive times and it does not teach the child anything. The other day I was down at the welfare office to see my friend who works there, Keishawn, and there was a woman with three kids, one of them a screaming child. He is going around the room, kicking people in the legs, just having fun. She started to scold him but to no avail. People were starting to get angry and looked at the mother like "Well, aren't you going to do something?". Sure enough, she caught the tyke and gave a firm slap across the boy's buttocks. He immediately stopped crying and running around.
At that point I whipped out my iPhone and called 911. I reported that a woman was beating a child senselessly in public. Cops came down quite quickly (amazing!) and arrested the woman. I am glad I did my part as a model citizen and put that monster behind bars where she belongs! |

Sometimes kids are too fast to spank, and that's when a Godly taser (AKA Mommy's Best Friend) comes in very handy.

I have 2 boys aged 9 and 11 but i have a weak husband who leaves it to me to administer the rod.
I feel it should be a mans job to do this. |
Re: Corporal punishment for children - Right or wrong?
Its right, the bible clearly says so and if you're a non believer then go read it. I have 2 boys, they are beaten every night before bed. Its called discipline and it makes them better behaved, because of it they find it hard to sit down most of the time but it just encourages them not to be lazy, its a good thing and its not going to kill them. It will turn them into better people when they are older.

Anyways, both parents should be used to administer the rod. A swift punishment is always better than a delayed, and what if only the wife is it home when the husband is at work. I do support beatings in public before waiting until you get home for the same reason. |
Re: Corporal punishment for children - Right or wrong?
My husband Mike often has to go away on business trips. If I weren't able to wield the rod, my children would grow up totally undisciplined.
Liz, in the meantime, could you please hop over to the Introductions forum http://www.landoverbaptist.net/forumdisplay.php?f=16 and introduce yourself following the instructions at the top of the page? Thanks. |

If you hate your son you won't beat him, and he will burn in hell, because you are a sissy of a father. If you love your son you will beat him, and deliver him from hell. |
