'Dungeons & Dragons' co-creator dies, goes to hell:

This was bound to happen. Couples who love each other often die within one year of each other.

'Dungeons & Dragons' co-creator dies, goes to hell

(CNN) -- David Lance Arneson, who helped trigger the global phenomenon of role-playing games as co-inventor of "Dungeons & Dragons," has died at the age of 61. A statement on the game's official Web site, wizards.com, said Arneson died Tuesday evening "after waging one final battle against cancer." Arneson "developed many of the fundamental ideas of role playing: that each player controls just one hero, that heroes gain power through adventures, and that personality is as important as combat prowess," the statement said.

The game's co-creator, Gary Gygax, died last year.

In 1974, Arneson and Gygax created "Dungeons & Dragons," which allowed players to assume roles in a magical world. They could be fighters or wizards, elves or dwarfs. "As characters journey through various lands, they search for hidden treasures while battling menacing monsters with their own brains and brawn," a description on wizards.com says.
Some games would last days or weeks -- or even longer. "Game campaigns are as limitless as the player's imaginations," wizards.com says.

What began as a hand-assembled print run of 1,000 games quickly sold out. Young people all over the world started buying up the game. By 1982, sales broke the $20 million mark. Arneson filed a series of lawsuits against Gygax insisting he was not being given credit or proper royalties for his work creating the game. The suits were settled.

"Dungeons and Dragons" spawned video games, novels, a cartoon, and a movie. The franchise saw a surge this decade after "The Lord of the Rings" and "Harry Potter" movies took off.

RIP, David Lance Arneson. You rolled a D12, and it landed on cancer. You and your heretical dungeoning won't be missed. Although, I'm still keen on the dragons idea.

Yep, he failed his saving throw, and couldn't find a 12th level Cleric to cast Heal on him.

Just so people don't accuse us of favoritism, it was noted when Gygax passed, too:

I guess Lance gets to play a 1st hell bound soul in Satan's dungeon of ass rape and fire torture. To late poor Davey to repent of that little demon worshiping game you came up with to TRICK KIDS INTO SODOMY AND DAMNATION??? Glory, God's justice has been done to this evil man, may all Arneson's works go up smoke like his soul is.

Don't have to roll a thing for Jesus! Just open your heart and let him in. Of course you need to get out of your mother's basement first.

Yet more proof that Wicker is a load of nonsense, if even the most advanced practitioners of the Dark Arts can't protect themselves against cancer. I hope this will inspire followers of the occult Arneson/Gygax cult to give up their nonsensical Satanic practices and embrace the Light. I am absolutely 100% confident that if this man had placed his trust in prayer instead of 12-sided dice, he would still be alive today.

Indeed, gambling with faith in the Lord exacts a costly price. Especially with a D12.

I wonder if he had a Dungeons & Dragons themed funeral, and a gothic casket.

If he had more stamina he'd probably still be alive today.

What are you all talking about? The last time I was this confused was when I had cable installed and the guy was telling me about something called a 'DVR'. I just kept nodding and he finally stopped talking.

By the way, what is that blinking 1,200 light for on my cable box?

How does DnD lead people into Sodomy and Damnation?

Demon worship for one thing. The game revolved around groups of young men staying up late night acting out symbolic rape fantasies on various "monsters". It is just loaded with Gay code like the multi color dice and phrases "to hit AC0", clearly a call for anal buggery.

You're wrong about a number of things.

First of all, nobody uses a d12 anymore. There's a reason it's called "d20 rules".

Second, I don't think I quite understand where you're getting the idea of us using D&D as a means to act out our "rape fantasies" on monsters. As I understand it, most rape fantasies involve the monsters doing the invading, not the heroes - and even were that not the case, I don't see many gamers "getting off" on rolling dice and say "I smite the goblin".

Third, "To Hit AC0" is a Second Edition idea. What you should be worried about now is the rules for grappling - but they're so complicated that nobody uses them.

Fourth, there are no rules for sodomy in Dungeons & Dragons. There are, however, rules for redemption.

I'm not going to say whether you're right or not about gamers going to hell or being devil worshipers or generally unclean individuals, but your lack of knowledge about the subject suggests that you don't know your enemy. Although seeing some of the emoticons to the right, here, also seems to suggest that you don't care.

That's all I'll say on the matter. I don't believe in monsters, and I'm on the fence about God...but I'm almost certain that He's not here.

That's your defense? You don't fantasise about raping monsters, you fantasise about being raped by demons - and you think we'll be impressed by that?

We don't want to hear about your sweaty man-on-dwarf grappling!

Oh, it's completely unregulated? That's the reality of life in America today - all kinds of socialistic restrictions on God's Blessed Free Market, but demon-buggery is totally uncontrolled. Despicable.

Yes. You can find them in the KJV 1611.

Yet more proof that the Dungeons & Domination cult leads to atheism.

Agnosticism, in my case. And I started there. Believe me: if D&D were a cult, I would be no more drawn to it than I am to the church.

It is called the d20 rules because of an attempt by TSR to take over the entire gaming industry by making their game standard practice.

This is besides the point because the multicolor dice used, not multisided. The rainbow is the traditional gay symbol used in everything from children’s games to candy.

Oh? Beyond the considerable body of D&D pornography the evidence says otherwise.

and let us consider the character race "half orc" Logically that can only be the product of male human adventures raping orc females. Since orcs or cannibalistic they would eat any human female they captured, so that only leaves human males forcing themselves on orc females. We can be sure that any imagined victory by a group of D&D players over any goblin tribe features scenes of unspeakable debauchery over the captures goblin females.

Jesus weeps friend when He thinks of this.

You can summon demons using magic in D&D. That, by definition is devil worshiping. It is pretty much the same if go dance naked in the woods like a wicker or sit in your parents basement and your “character” cast spells. It is worshiping Satan.

Is nature homosexual, then, when light refracts through rain creating a spectrum of colors in the sky? The truth is, rainbows have been around longer than homosexuality. Did you know that red, black, and white are nazi colors, that blue and white are Jewish colors, that red and yellow are Russian colors?

The many colors of dice have nothing to do with sexuality. Some people simply like colors.

The first source you cited is a community of artists, some of whom are more serious than others. The ones who use their art to depict profanity are by no means symbols for the vast majority of gamers, and the gamers who do subscribe to those symbols do so not because of their gaming habits.

The second source is a much less serious community, and most of its membership is not D&D-oriented. It is also, for the most part, not pornographic in nature.

The third source represents an extremely small subset of gamer culture, and again should not be used as a symbol for the culture itself. I could point out, for instance, that some priests molest young boys, and that therefore all religious authority figures molest young boys (an assertion that isn't true but for a tiny subset of its membership).

Summoning demons using magic in D&D is an evil act, even in the rules of D&D, and many people who play D&D never summon demons, but instead try to prevent evil characters from doing so. I fail to see how playing through an imaginary quest to stop an evil necromancer from raising an army of undead is analogous to worshiping Satan. It seems, in fact, quite the opposite.

We call this tiny subset "Catholics".

What better way to trick numbskulls like yourself into worshiping Satan than to convince them that they're not worshiping Satan?
