Liveblog: from the frontline in Ukraine
Ask me anything. A few disorganized notes:
1. Pretty fireworks aside, the real story here is at the borders. Women and children heading away from danger. Men heading towards danger. That’s not something we see much of these days, so I want to hammer this into everybody’s heads. Women and children moving away from danger. Men heading towards danger. 2. Where is all the talk of male privilege and toxic masculinity now? Men under the age of 60 - that’s six-zero - are forbidden to leave the country. They are being drafted to fight. I saw a pencil-necked 90-pound student who was turned back from the border. He will go and fight instead. Men heading towards danger. Women and children heading away from danger. 3. This is all very confusing to brown foreigners. They are starting to pile up at the border, muscular military-age men, all of them. They are willing to accept the hospitality of Ukraine, but will not return the favor by defending Ukraine. They can’t cross the border, so they complain about being discriminated against. It’s true, but it’s anti-male sexism. They don’t understand. They’ve probably never encountered feminism. “Toxic masculinity” is just a code word for “white masculinity” after all. It’s hard to blame them for their confusion. In the wars where they come from, it is the women and children who shield the men, not the other way around. 4. Has anybody in the media asked about anti-Russian bigotry? After every terror attack we are told that micro aggressions towards Muslims was the real story. When COVID hit we were told to go eat bat soup because anti-Chinese bigotry was the true disease. Had anyone taken Russian vodka off the shelves during the Cold War, they would have been called redneck nazis. But now that Russia is no longer communist, they are off the Democrat pander list, so we get to hate all we want. I saw one ethnic Russian being interviewed, and (without being asked) she mentioned multiple cases of bigotry, but only to say that she understood why, and had compassion for the haters. Have you ever heard a Muslim say that? 5. Putin is the most surprised of anybody. He really didn’t think that Ukrainians would fight. Who can blame him? Ukraine is defended by white men. Anyone who observes Western politics and culture from a distance has to come to the conclusion that white men are pathetic punching bags. In short, Putin is in the same information bubble that Democrats are in. And like Democrats after every election, he is saying the exact same thing: “where the hell did all of these white men come from? And why are they not bowing down?” |

In my view, Putin should send in bus loads of evangelical preachers. They could hold their Bibles high and preach of the glorious days ahead under the Godly Putin. This would persuade the Ukrainians with guns to go home and wait quietly. |

I heard one journalist refer to Molotov cocktails as “potent weapons” which made me burst out laughing. If you want to slow down the Russians, the bottles to give them are the ones with the vodka still in them. |

Re: Liveblog: from the frontline in Ukraine
Let’s forget all this blah blah blah about the thermobarbaric rockets and the courage of President Jewy Mcscruffy and get to the real threat that the world order faces: what is going to happen to the value of my real estate when all those Russian oligarchs have their mansions seized and put up for sale?
It’s easy enough to bog down social housing construction by demanding more impact statements to predict the effect on the local cockroach population, but I can’t NIMBY the construction of housing that has already been constructed. I just saw Boris Johnson - you know, that British King who the liberals all hate because of his hair - being interrupted and subjected to a hysterical tirade by a Ukrainian woman who demanded that he start WW3, and worse, seize real estate. That Ukraine girl almost knocked him out. The last time I’ve seen something like that, it was John Kerry on the stage, and the heckler ended up giving us the immortal line “Don’t taze me bro” (spoiler alert: the bro tazed him). Boris is a true class act though, he patiently listened to every last shriek and sob with empathy and blah blah blah but he never gave any guarantees regarding the security of my real estate values. He did say that starting WW3 was off the table, which I guess is worth pointing out, but come on, the civilized world needs to unite and show a firm front and man up and protect my investments. |

I’m sick of hearing claims that Putin is incompetent, that he is surrounded by yes-men, or that he’s fallen prey to confirmation bias.
There is no such thing as “confirmation bias”. If everyone I know agrees with me, that just proves that I have successfully surrounded myself with smart people. For example, I know that the Bible is accurate because the Bible says it’s accurate. If the Bible were false, the Bible would have told me that it’s false. I know this is true because everybody who replies will agree with me. If anyone disagrees, a mod will ban them, which proves how stupid they are. |

And of all of the proposed policies, everything from shooting down their planes to cancelling Swan Lake to Lindsay Graham’s assassination suggestion, nobody has suggested we brain-drain Russia by allowing skilled and/or sexy Russians to emigrate to the west. Clearly it’s bigotry against ethnic Russians. I say we spread rumours of babooshka sightings in Mexico. We’ll see Trump’s Wall built in record time. |

The only thing dumber than a dumb jock is a dumb democrat jock.
One news report teaser made it sound like the Russians were holding an American as a political prisoner. Turns out she was arrested at an airport before the war. Looking at the footage of her arrest, you can see this genius decided to wear a shirt with an anti-police slogan, in an actual police state. In Soviet Russia, the police protest you. Or, in this case, they search the heck out of your luggage, and discover that dumb jocks are even dumber than the dumbest rock stars. Yes, she was holding. Holding CBD, which is less potent than coffee, but still illegal. Did our dumb jock friend think that she had escaped the fascist ameriKKKa and arrived in the worker’s paradise? Did she think she could get out of trouble by accusing the cops of being racist white whities? In Soviet Russia punching bag punches you. |

Evidence that it's God's wrath: two pornography-adjacent rock bands, Queen and Bad Company, did a huge concert in Kiev. I turned down the volume and looked at the crowd footage. It really cheered me up, thinking that most of those sinners are now dead or homeless: |

I don't know much about war business, but my understanding is that some Russian soldiers should be easy to spot in the dark - they might be glowing:

True, Mr. Mayor. Radioactive soldiers who are glowing in the dark can serve as lanterns for the other soldiers. That will speed up the movement of the troops.
