Day 355: 2 Peter 1-3

Chapter 1

The letter begins with customary greetings directed towards all readers - yes, that includes True Christians™ reading it today (2 Pet 1:1-2). Jesus' divine power gave us the power and gifts to escape from the corruption of this world, and we need to act accordingly (2 Pet 1:3-7). Good behavior is great (2 Pet 1:8), and those who don't behave well are pretty much screwed:

2 Peter 1:
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

The good news is that if we're diligent we're fool proof and cannot fail:

2 Peter 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Which means that we'll go to Heaven (2 Pet 1:11). It's good to keep reminding ourselves about the rules of good behavior so we don't forget about them. Peter will do it as long as he's alive and then we have to do it ourselves (2 Pet 1:12-15).

The important thing is that True Christian™ faith follows things that really happened and not some weird fables from thousands of years ago:

2 Peter 1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Peter remembers the time when he heard voices confirming that Jesus was the Son of God (2 Pet 1:17-18). What will help us through the dark times are the 100% infallible prophecies of the Holy Bible:

2 Peter 1:19-21
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Chapter 2

The main problem among Christians is created by the false prophets - or what we call the fluffy-bunny false Christians these days. Those who follow them are screwed:

2 Peter 2:1-3
1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

They will be cast to Hell just like the fallen angels (2 Pet 2:4), almost entire humanity during the Flood (2 Pet 2:5), and Sodom and Gomorrah (2 Pet 2:6-8).

God chooses whom He likes and delivers them from temptation, while everyone else is doomed:

2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Yes, fluffy bunny false Christians will be punished accordingly (2 Pet 2:10-14). In fact even animals are capable of rebuking the heathens:

2 Peter 2:15-16
15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

The fluffy bunny false Christians are doomed to hell for their sins (2 Pet 2:17-19). They might have escaped the temptations at first, but now they are even worse than the regular heathens:

2 Peter 2:20-21
20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

They are as disgusting as dogs licking their own vomit:

2 Peter 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Chapter 3

The most important message of this letter is to remember and follow the Old and New Testament (2 Pet 3:1-2). Don't go astray in these last days, don't follow false prophets (2 Pet 3:3-4). Just as the world was destroyed by the flood (2 Pet 3:5-6), this world will be destroyed on the Judgment Day (2 Pet 3:7).

When is going to be the Judgment Day? That's a tricky question, because for God the time doesn't pass the same way it does for us:

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

So basically, don't say that God is a slacker:

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

One night we least expected God shall come:

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

So while sinners should expect the destruction of the earth with fear, True Christians™ should await it impatiently as it will mark the new beginning of a new earth where righteousness will govern (2 Pet 3:11-13). We need to be ready (2 Pet 3:14). Peter makes it sound as this is going to happen any day now - and if it was so soon to happen 200 years ago, just imagine how close we are to that day today!

Our Salvation™ is in Jesus' suffering - we can deduce that even from these confusing letters of our beloved Paul:

2 Peter 3:15-16
15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Beware of the wicked (2 Pet 3:17) and grow in grace (2 Pet 3:18). Amen.

You seem a tad angry. Why won´t you go over to the introduction forum and tell us a bit about yourself?

You can't see what the carpenter really looks like.
Because he only swings his ax at the stake in front of him.
The stake is not the size of a pine tree. If you insist on drawing, it is about the same size as the circle you make with two palms. This is why a woodworker can chop off a stake in one fell swoop. I chopped off my copulatory organ in the same mammer.

This is a very interesting website. Y'all going to Hell.

This thread is about the second epistle of Peter, not carpentry. Peter's epistles never mention carpenters which you can verify here:

.FIRST EPISTLE.

.SECOND EPISTLE.
https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/2-Peter-1-1_3-18/

I hope that is helpful.

In Him.
