The Joy of Being a Helpmeet
Now this poem was brought on by my excitement at being married soon.
The Joy of Being a Helpmeet Being a helpmeet is a joyous thing And it makes my heart so glad that I could sing Knowing that you’re fulfilling God’s plan By being submissive to your Godly man There’s always something to do So there is no time to be blue By making sure your husband is pleased in every way A woman can bring brightness to each day There is no worrying about things like bills or politics Those worries can make a food taste so nasty nobody will swallow it As long as you know that your chores are done Being a helpmeet is not only perfect, it’s fun! There are so many ways to get the job done And you still have time to take care of your daughters and sons Just remember to always be submissive Because trying to take over- well frankly, it’s dismissive. Never raise your voice above your man’s And never burn their food (for reasons you’ll quickly understand) Just remember each day That you’re doing things the Godly way! (PS: I put "daughters and sons" just for the rhyme. I didn't mean in any way that daughters are superior to sons, because that's an outright lie. Just wanted to put that out there now.) |
Re: The Joy of Being a Helpmeet
That is a nice poem! My father always says daughters are worthless, so I hope I will only get sons. :)

That is a lovely poem, Angelie!
I don't think daughters are worthless, though. Every time I go over to my cousin Vern's house, he has his daughter give me a foot massage, and let me tell you, that girl really knows how to quiet my dogs down when they're barkin'! |
