This is why Freehold is a Right to Smoke City
Liberals have long criticized Freehold for it's Right To Smoke laws, about how we endanger people's health in our bars, restaurants, theaters, churches and nursing homes but this is about protecting Freedom. As Christians we have no time for paternalistic authorities telling us right and wrong, that is God's job.
Cato Unbound Explains. Quote:
So the innocent smoker is picked upon, just because of a personal vice that occasionally gives other people fatal asthma attacks, Well if we start with limiting smoking were does it go? Quote:
What's next wants they take the freedom to smoke away? They going to ban hedge fund derivative traders? Shadow bankers? Think tank hacks? Sure these thing all bad for you but these people have RIGHTS and RIGHTS are what American and Jesus are ABOUT! As Withman points out here it is a short step from forcing cigarettes out of Americans mouths to forcing savings down Americans throats. How will this country be the Republic the Founding Fathers dreamed about when we aren't allowed to go into debt two to three times our net worth on the chance we might win the lottery some day? We have rights in the this county and that means we have the right to blow our money in some complex stock scheme just as much as we have the right so smoke our self into throat cancer. So say "nyet" to socialism and keep your social safety net away from me, I want my cigarette. |
Re: This is why Freehold is a Right to Smoke City
Everyone is getting tired of the anti-smoke NAZIs telling me where I can and can't smoke. If you don't want to smell smoke in the produce aisle, then go to that over-priced organic farmer's market that you're always bragging about.

Re: This is why Freehold is a Right to Smoke City
Even North Salem has no-smoking ordinances on the downtown sidewalks! The smokers in my congregation have to walk two entire blocks to get out of downtown to smoke, unless they want to stand in the parking lot!
And you know how much of a challenge such a hike is to a smoker. :( Can you believe that North Salem has also passed an ordinance making it illegal to burn plastics in town? "Oh, the smoke is toxic," they whine. "It makes people sick, gives them cancer. Send that stuff to the recycling center instead of burning it. You're right next door to the grocery store and across from Jameson's outdoor cafe, for crying out loud!" Makes people sick? Disturbs their dinner? Makes their produce smell funny? What about my right to burn my garbage at the parsonage instead of PAYING the RECYCLING MAFIA for trash collection so they can make MORE money off my garbage by recycling it? |

It is the non smokers who have been suckered by the slick propaganda of the anti-tobacco lobby who are ruining it for all of us. Just because you don't like something some else is doing doesn't give you to the right to harass those people. Just look at us Christians; we do not go around judging people "evil", hounding them in the streets and passing laws to persecute them. |

We tell them what God thinks, we warn them of His impending Wrath, and we work toward a society which follows God's Laws instead of Man's! :yahoo: |
Re: This is why Freehold is a Right to Smoke City
It's shocking, isn't it. The same people who want to give disease-ridden sodimites special privileges like not being felons for their deathstyle choice want to take away decent people's right to smoke. I praise Jesus that I no longer live in Virginia, where Governor Wilder once vetoed a bill to protect smokers against job discrimination.

Everything causes cancer. You should know that by now. Even eating too much celery will kill you. Do you want the government to have control over what you put in your body?

When America's Armed Forces won World War II, what did you see dangling from every GI's mouth? That's right--- a cigarette!!! And not only did all of our men in uniform smoke like chimneys, they smoked UNFILTERED cigarettes like Chesterfield, Pall Mall, and Phillip Morris!! Our Godly Troops not only chain-smoked unfiltered cigarettes, they served as test subjects for nuclear fallout during the Cold War and were exposed to every manner of virulent venereal disease in the back alleys and brothels of Saigon. But liberals don't care about America. In fact, they hate America and everything she stands for. They want to destroy America by coddling and sissifying our youth, thus making us vulnerable to a Muslim Terrorist invasion. They want to undermine and eventually DESTROY our health care system-- the Best Health Care System in the World®, by the way--- with their anti-smoking nanny state regulations and by banning toxic chemical incinerators in populated areas. They have no shame, no shame whatsoever!! |

John 9:1-3: And as [Jesus] passed by, he saw a man which was blind from [his] birth And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. But for the most part it's sin: Deut. 28:58-61: If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, [even] great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. Also every sickness, and every plague, which [is] not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed. |

Exodus 34:5,7 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation. John 9:1-3 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. James 5:15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. 1 Corinthians 11:29-30 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Deuteronomy 28:58-61 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. You see God is all knowing, so He knows when He creates someone that they are going to be sinning scum. Since God respects free will He doesn't just destroy that soul but pre-smites it with deformities and they damns it to Hell when it dies a short, miserable life. So quit blaming God for your problems sinner. |
