1 Kings 15:1-2

1Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat reigned Abijam over Judah. 2 Three years reigned he in Jerusalem. and his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

I just think it's neat we get to learn about this stuff.

I have to agree with you. To the Catholic, who reads only 2% of the Bible, or to the atheist, who reads only to mock, such facts appear trivial. However the True Christian can find deeper faith in such verses:

1Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam – an exact and verifiable date
the son of Nebat – just in case there was ever another Jeroboam
reigned Abijam over Judah – thus giving context and political meaning and nuances to the demeanor and outlook of Abijam.
2 Three years reigned he in Jerusalem. – indicating that he might have ruled from somewhere else, but that as, at the time, his sort of king only reigned in Jerusalem,
and his mother's name was Maachah, - More checkable facts. So much that must be true! Thus we have good reason to accept all that is written.
the daughter of Abishalom. Pinning the lady down to a specific person! More checkable facts.

See how this ties in with
1Ki:15:9: And in the twentieth year of Jeroboam king of Israel reigned Asa over Judah.
1Ki:15:10: And forty and one years reigned he in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

From which we can confidently say that Abijam and Asa were brothers.

And it is also so well put! I well remember when I was no more than 6 years old, my father set me to learn the Bible by heart (just in case of a disaster when no Bible was available). I complained at such verses, but he, as he beat me for insolence, and possible blasphemy, in his paternal wisdom replied, “Ezekiel, my boy you will find that the Path to Salvation is filled with Trivia, for trivia is the only important thing in the world. Trivia is God’s Wisdom – but God’s Wisdom is the wisdom whose significance we do not currently grasp.”

And I have found that to be true.

As you say, It is “neat.”

so most of the year is now behind us. But there’s a new year coming up,
which will give us time to live, to love, to give, and to make our dreams come true.

My dream is to get a spanking from some muscular scantily clad nuns of the Carmelight order.

I cant believe all the h8 on this forum. I am non-binary (ace) and i don't go telling people how they should live. You also should not go telling people how they should live there lives. You all should do some actual research. The bible tells us to love everyone and jesus created me as i am now. You should relax. see you in hell.

Did Jesus also create murderers "as they are now" and should we love them? What about slave markets? At least two categories exist: the slaves themselves and the cretins selling them. According to your philosophy Jesus created the slaves as they are now and also created tie cretins as they are now unaware that any error exists in selling slaves or operating a slave market.

Of course we'd pray for all those to be emancipated and my research indicates the murderers can be delivered too. An appeal to Jesus annuls all those commitments whether to slave trading or murder or even to being a slave in the first place.

What evidence do you have in support of your position?

Dear Miss Me: If you stay with us long enough, you will see that the :true-fancy: people at :landover-fancy: have done oodles and oodles of research — reading the glorious :kjv1611:. It appears that you are the one who is a bit behind on doing research. If you were up-to-date, then you would have known about this:

Genesis 1:27 "So :god-fancy: created man in his own image, in the image of :god-fancy: created he him; male and female created he them."

So, as far as this "non-binary" nonsense is concerned, we can see that it goes directly against the way the :lord-fancy: wants people to be. Don't you think that by rebelling and dis-obeying :god-fancy:, He would get angry?

Psalm 7:11 ":god-fancy: judgeth the righteous, and :god-fancy: is angry with the wicked every day."

Matthew 25:46 "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."

So, as you can see, if one does not wish to incur the wrath of :god-fancy:, then one has to do as He commands — as written within the pages of the :kjv1611:.

Now, I have no doubt that you may not possess a copy of this blessed Book; however, you can do your research online — here:

https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/

Kindly start at the Book of Genesis, reading slowly, so as to absorb all that the :lord-fancy: wants you to learn. I am sure that you will find your research project will be very interesting — and rewarding!

Oh, the old "God created it therefore GOOD" fallacy? Jesus says LOL no:

Isaiah 45:7 "I form the light, and create darkness:
I make peace, and create evil:
I the Lord do all these things."

Talking about research, why not read the WHOLE Bible, not just the feel-good bits others have picked out for you?

But the Bible does. And we here at :landover-fancy: are making the effort to tell people what is in the Bible.

And, at the risk of being pedantic regarding semantics, we do not "go" anywhere telling people how they should live their lives. They keep coming here to us and they are the ones telling us how we should live our lives based on what they think the Bible says.

For example, no one associated with our community flipped the power switch on your computer and typed in our URL. And no one here required, coerced or even suggested you register on this forum so that you could post a comment scolding us for proclaiming Bible Truth™. That was all you, my dear. . . Or, was it? Did you ever stop to think that The Holy Spirit guided you here so that you could learn what's really in the Bible and be saved from your ignorance?

We will see if you learn to appreciate this opportunity or if you harden your heart and kick against the pricks.

Yes, I used to kick. Wondering about this poster though, have no idea what "ace" is, if the true identity now is God's creation who or what created the previous identities? The 1-year-old identity for instance. Was that "ace" too? Very unlikely I'd have thought; or the 2½-year-old, was that non-binary?

Quote:

I am non-binary (ace)

Humans are not a trinary species (I'm not aware of any that are) so presumably non-binary means reproducing by mitosis somehow. That may be possible for reptiles, I'm not sure though, but certainly at some stage gametes were involved before Jesus created the non-binary individual.

.. and jesus created me as i am now.

More concerning though is this bit about The Bible. No reference is cited, no Scripture is quoted. How is such a bald claim different from The bible tells us to hate everyone, or The bible tells us never to buy Volvos :headscratch:

Quote:

The bible tells us to love everyone

I just can't see it. The only way to accommodate this perspective is to imagine a world where one person gets to have opinions but everyone else has to shut up about theirs, not have any opinions at all or agree with every unsubstantiated claim despite evidence to the contrary. But who'd want to live in a world like that?
