My point exactly. If Mr. Jean had locked his door like any sensible person, this would not have happened. But, no, he just had to carelessly leave it unlocked while he sat there, recklessly eating ice cream. What did he expect would happen? Did he think that he could just sit there, eating a frozen treat in his own living room with an unlocked door and that there wouldn't be consequences?
