Hosea 12:9-10 I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast. I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.

§103 The hill, though high, I covet to ascend,
§103 The difficulty will not me offend;
§103 For I perceive the way to life lies here.
§103 Come, pluck up heart, let's neither faint nor fear;
§103 Better, though difficult, the right way to go,
§103 Than wrong, though easy, where the end is woe.

Clearly, like Pilgrim, he has chosen the difficult path where others would look for easy alternatives. God understands as He always does and knows that obstacles He places before the ones He loves are placed there for a reason. Hosea knew this and God's standard is so clear in The Bible that it's not difficult to draw parallels.
