God made the universe and informs us about The Firmament. It is solid but even if Mars and the moon are equidistant from us, wouldn't that simply mean those parts of The Firmament where they were located had the same altitudes? Couldn't other parts of The Firmament be more distant, depending on its shape? Say if it had a spike (like the inside of a steeple) with something coalesced at its farthest point, wouldn't that be measurable as more distant than the moon?
