My! I haven't whipped one of these up since I was 14, but I will try to remember. Father used to like this served with apple cider, but only on Wednesday evenings.
Pressed Fig Cake
1 cup sweet butter, blessed
2 cups honey, sanctified
4 eggs laid with love
2 cups milk squeezed from the teat of a spirit filled cow
6 cups whole wheat pastry flour, purified with Christ's love
1 ˝ cups dried figs, full of faith
2 Tbsp. vinegar, offered to Jesus on the Cross of Calvary
1 tsp. cinnamon, with the "cin" removed
3 Tbsp. water, flowing from the throne of God
Preheat oven to 400°F. (Millions of degrees lower than hell)
Pray for all the ingredients, that the LORD will bless them and edify them unto our bodies' needs. In a Christlike manner, cream butter with 1 cup of honey. Add eggs, milk, and most of the flour, pray for 10 seconds, then mix well to make a dough. Dust the dough with flour and put in a very cold place for 20 minutes. Sing a hymn for this entire time while continuing the recipe as follows:
Grind the figs godly, and mix with the remainder of the honey, the vinegar, and the cinnamon. Pour the water and the filling mixture into a pot, simmer for 15 minutes, then let cool. But do not let your soul become lukewarm, lest He spit you out.
With oiled hands and the unction of the Holy Ghost, evenly spread half the dough into a 9″ x 12″ buttered baking dish, spread the filling over, then cover with the rest of the dough. Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Say a prayer for peace.*
Yield: 8–12 servings
