Affirming the consequent takes the form:
If A, then B
B
Therefore A
To take
an example from another thread, an atheist might say:
If there is no God, then miracles are impossible
Miracles are impossible
Therefore there is no God
But if miracles are impossible, then how did Jesus perform miracles? How did He rise from the dead?
Of course, the atheist doesn't
want to hear evidence of God's existence. By rejecting the miraculous, he is rejecting the strongest evidence we have.
