I believe the time might have come around the Reformation, when Martin Luther gave up his boy-buggering and indulgence-selling ways to follow Christ and denounce the Catholic cult. A few Huguenots chose to stop being pagans and convert to Christianity, but not many. If Christ had been able to make more headway there, maybe things would have turned out differently. But, as it is, Catholicism has deep roots there, so we see atheism, paganism, faggotry, and effeminacy run rampant. It's a shame to think of what could have been, but I suppose Jesus has seen fit to leave the Frenchies as a cautionary tale to the faithful.
