I've added those bullet points to highlight what it is that's so offensive to all Christians in this building. These are not opinions or aesthetic preferences but contraventions of God's commandments by people who—since they are the "tenured professors" and "deans of the faculty" in their field—must have known what The Bible condemned and that they were precisely committing every abomination set out in its pages.
Taking your points in reverse order brings us to their pope idol. That's right, exactly what God told us not to do, they have done. Whether or not they bow in its general direction or touch it or stand there muttering to the thing is immaterial.
Deuteronomy 5:8 Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth.
Ok, it doesn't matter which pope it is and the photo is pretty obvious. "Any likeness of any thing" seems pretty comprehensive to me but God places great emphasis on this particular abomination with another blanket prohibition and mention made of secret places. This pelican (and whatever that other thing is) are attached to the roof. To worship them you'd need to scramble up there and know where you were going. But whether you knew where they were or not and whether you prayed to them or not their mere existence is sufficient to bring down this curse.
Deuteronomy 27:15 Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
Prolonged mockery of God is something you'd expect where demons were involved. Satan likes to get all the worship directly but most people when offered that opportunity will decline. Not all people—obviously the Romish hierarchy pretty much bit his hand off when they heard how much gold, how many gemstones, the profusion of ruby encrusted skeletons (not to mention other body parts) and excessively ornate real estate across multiple continents was on offer—just most people.
Failing that, worship through demons is acceptable to him and what better way to kick off than by promoting demonic images? God has prohibited that but do the demons care about God? Well yes, they do but threatened with immediate consequences for failure today
versus. a future outcome for challenging God's authority they get busy inspiring papists. "Do me! Do me!" one says. "No - do me! Look at my dreadful wings!" No true Christian would make such a thing and in this way we know that demon statues (whatever they're called) have nothing to do with Jesus.
James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
How anyone could think these places glorified God in any way is beyond me. Yet we've had multiple claims to that effect, repeatedly shown to be false claims, so that more information seems to be required. Satan didn't stop at pelicans and devils. The idols get very thorough treatment here with not only human beings being impersonated but of all abominations the most confronting to any Christian is made, set up and used to glorify anti-God. That will need to be another post but in the meantime can anyone identify this (what looks like) road-kill idol? Deformed bat? Pterodactyl? Squashed duck? Honestly, the mind boggles.
