We get our information about God from The Bible, from its historical records, from its wisdom literature and from its fulfilled prophecy. Other sources such as banging of drums by cannibals or the ravings of Amerindians on cactus juice, contradict The Bible and therefore do not reflect any aspect of God.

It's possible that you're referring to some other deity than the one we celebrate during Easter? If so perhaps you could say which one. In the meantime I'll assume that you do mean God and that you recognise Jesus as His only begotten Son who died to set us free. Soon he will be returning to kill many billions of people, just as He promised to do all those years ago.

The historical record shows just how concerned God is when the genocide He has commanded is not carried out precisely as specified. For example by killing insufficient children. Here we see Moses checking the outcome following God's commandment of extermination and wouldn't you know it those dumb Israelites thought they knew better than God.

NUMBERS 31 . KJV . look up
1
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.
What sort of vengeance do you think God had in mind? Compulsory training as acrobats? Enforced vegetarianism? Lice bombs? Moses knew exactly what God wanted and sent thousands of armed Israelites to do the business.
7 And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.
8 And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.
I don't know if you appreciate what slew with the sword actually means. First you need a very sharp blade, honed with a stone, glinting in the sunlight. Next you'd bring it down edge first against the head of your target Midianite in accordance with God's command as hard as possible. This would be repeated until there were no Midianites left, that is to say none in the battle field. Boys and girls, their mothers and grandmothers would remain at home in this case.
9 And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.
10 And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.
11 And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of men and of beasts.
12a And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses.
Had they killed enough to satisfy God's commandment? In a word NO.
14a Moses was wroth..
15 And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?
Moses communicated God's dissatisfaction and instructed these soldiers who thought they knew better what to do next.
17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
Perhaps that does not fit your definition of genocide. Here is a list of livestock not killed.
32 The booty being the rest of the prey which the men of war had caught was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep
33 And threescore and twelve thousand beeves
34 And threescore and one thousand asses
35 And thirty and two thousand persons in all of women that had not known man by lying with him

According to the wretchedness of heathens God was not always so merciful.

Jericho: God commanded men, women, boys, girls, cattle, sheep, donkeys, infants & babies to be chopped up alive because He is a God of love and He did not want His chosen people to be contaminated in any destructive way.
Ai: God commanded all men, women, children, babies to be killed and facilitated the extermination. Cattle in this case were spared. Then they razed the city to the ground.

In the above three examples metals were not included. These are specified as silver, gold, iron, brass, lead & tin. It would be pointless to just leave that lying around so God commanded it to be retained after all it did belong to Him and obtaining metals was not the motivation for these genocides. That would amount to theft, a serious crime. God's motivation is love, His love for the Israelites and His love for us even to death on the cross.

But perhaps you worship some other deity.
