It may seem harsh to the unregenerate mind, but consider the words of King David after he had committed adultery with Bathsheba and murdered her husband, Uriah the Hittite.
Ps 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
You're thinking about sin in relation to your fellow man, about the impact it has on others. But all sin is ultimately sin against God. If you don't do what He tells you, He gets mad. Whether you have killed 6 million Jews or broken the Sabbath or masturbated, you deserve the same punishment: an eternity of torment in the lake of fire.
Rev 20:12-15
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
When you think about sin, you shouldn't be thinking, "But what about X person or X group?" You should be thinking, "But what about God?"
