THE BIBLE - The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.
Right there in Deuteronomy 22:5 it's plain as day. God does not specify which garments in particular because from time to time, and in different places, what constitutes a woman's garment can vary. Kilts as worn by men in Scotland are well known, for instance. It would be against Scripture for any women to dress up like the gentleman [
RIGHT] and for any man to wear the woman's equivalent which, although a type of kilt, is not the same and would be noticed immediately by any Scot. God understood all this, of course, and worded His commandment accordingly.
Again, items similar to trousers are popular for women in India [
LEFT] but there no gentleman should ever wear the things, whatever they're called. Some of the formal attire for men (often displayed in shop windows selling clothes for weddings) is more decorative that usual to our eye but still quite masculine I suppose and the groom would never be mistaken for the bride despite his skinny-legged embroidered satin pants. They also have weird shoes with curled up toes and I'm sure there are male and female differences there, too.
There used to be a fashion in China similar to foot & head binding whereby a slave child would be kept in a bottle and grow into a strange shape, viz. the shape of the inside of the bottle. This would probably be uncomfortable. Once grown however, the wretch could be summoned and made to stand in such a position as to reproduce that shape. Sort of like a living statue. Maybe you could think of it as human bonsai.
In the photograph something similar is going on. The wretch has discovered a certain way to sit and turn the head and cock up one leg and place the arm just so which evokes a particular "look" no doubt requiring a specific type of light and plenty of rehearsing. It's pointless referring to Scripture because obviously God's opinion is not a consideration here. I know people often make up their own "God" and even their own "Jesus" which bear no resemblance to anything in The Bible. Usually they directly contradict everything He's explained for us so that we don't suffer unnecessarily in the wonderful world He made for us to live in.
But how often is "wonderful" not good enough for people so they have to engage in forbidden capers such as wearing the wrong types of clothes or even getting tattoos. It's so disappointing and for God so much worse to see His commandments ignored, thrown back in His face, despite everything being right there in The Bible.
