As for "scientific proof", that's a laugh. If scientists lie about "evolution" and "global warming", they'll lie about anything as long as it mocks God.
Why would we ban you for being a papist? You're horribly wrong for being so, but it's not ban-worthy or else a couple of the Romanists satanic priests would have been long gone.

Papist? Where did you get that I'm Papist? If I were, why would I be wrong? This is the proof that you cannot provide...

So your username doesn't refer to a bead-counting, dress-wearing, alterboy-molesting priest?
Does it refer to your own father then? So you are asking your own father to diddle you? Incest is a sin little missy! And little girls who seduce their fathers are headed straight for Hell!

There seems to be a genuinely interesting issue here that unfortunately has been sidetracked! Of course, all arguments that have as their conclusion ‘because God/the bible says so’ are immune from logical exposition. To the faithful, you either see the truth or you don’t. There simply is little point debating the finer points of theology, cosmology, historical or scientific evidence (or lack of) if different ground rules are assumed by different parties.
In fact, it has been explicitly stated that thinking for oneself is to be avoided (being ungodly, and most likely the influence of Satanic power). So if intellectual reasoning and theorizing are not just unnecessary - but actually anathema to hearing the true ‘word’ - it would be interesting to hear more about the mechanisms which underlie faith and belief. Being presumably more direct, more personal and more powerful, a pertinent question might be to ask what has lead each of us to accept one way over and above any other. In my experience there are very subtle, deep reasons for accepting or denying one ‘truth’ over another.
I think it has already been mentioned in this thread that when you believe, you don’t have doubt. But isn’t there a process where doubt is a necessary component of any faith though? Otherwise what separates one who has seen the truth from one who just blindly follows another man, book or supernatural event?

I don’t agree with your statement here; you ether except the truth or you alley yourself with Satan and spread lies. “Doubt” and “skepticism” are just excuses given out for being inherently evil and hating God.

There is nothing subtle about it. Jesus speaks to us in our hearts of hearts and tells us what is right or wrong. It is up to us to listen on not. “Thinking” is just the moment Satan tries to mislead us.

You are correct, doubt is needed when listing to your fellow man. When someone says something you find troubling you just look it up in The Bible and Jesus will show you the truth there. It is very simple, everyone else is wrong and Jesus is right.

I think we are actually in agreement here - this is what I meant when I said such viewpoints are beyond logical exposition. If you have faith you simply accept; if you don't, nothing outside of faith will have any sway over you.

Thankyou for that. I can appreciate that that kind of direct communication to the heart is quite a different thing to reading a book.

Hmmm, I guess the tricky part though is that many people listen to their hearts and come to quite different conclusions; even those contrary to biblical teachings. I understand that discerning the truth is a non-intellectual exercise as you say, but corroboration of this truth to others always seems to necessitate an external source. Which is where the trouble begins! I suspect it can't be done.

While we agree on the results we disagree on the how the come about. I maintain that a belief in God as described in the Bible perfectly logical and intuitively obvious to all people at all times. The debate comes from people attempting to justify their wickedness with made up nonsense they call “logic” to make themselves sound reasonable.

Yes, we Christians know better that to just throw out quotes from some old book. That’s why we rely on Jesus and The Bible.

Well external source here is The Bible. You can also tell if someone is one the good path by the results by looking at their lives. Jesus rewards those He loves and punishes those He finds wicked. You would never find Jesus with some homeless, long haired loser dressed in rags.

Thanks for the response - there is something circular going on here though. A belief in the Bible being exclusively the word of God (or any other book, for that matter), can not be - of itself - a logically sound argument.
It may be intuitively obvious, but such a claim can't be defended on logical grounds alone without getting into this type of circularity.
No big deal though - I am more interested in those areas where faith and belief transcend logic in any case. I think a surprising amount! The OP asked why the Bible is the only true word of God - this can not be verified with logic alone. Hence why history is littered with others also claiming to know the one true word. We each come to make make decisions about such things, based on faith in one thing over another (or lack of).

And pay up, is that what you're saying?? By the way, it's not nice to call people trolls!
And why should we accept a guy who says he's the son of god? Try to say that to a shrink, and you will soon be in the looney bin!!
