Can True Christian women serve horsemeat for dinner? -

Horse meat is now legal to purchase/eat in Australia.

Horse meat goes on the menu with sale to humans allowed in Western Australia
Perth butcher Vince Gareffa, known as the Prince of Flesh, has led the charge by getting special permission from the West Australian government to supply the gamey meat to the public. Mr Gareffa, who also supplies chefs across the country, opened his Perth shop yesterday with fresh horse meat for sale.

So I am thinking that it is much easier to acquire than koala for my special pies.
And it certainly appears lean with a low cholesterol factor to worry about.
But is it OK for Christian women to cook and eat it?
Deuteronomy 14:7 (King James Version)
7 Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.
2 Chronicles 7:14
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land Australia.

There is nothing wrong with eating horse:
Mark 7:15: There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
Acts 10:10-15: And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. And the voice [spake] unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, [that] call not thou common.
You do, however, have to make sure that it was killed properly and that the blood is drained out:
Acts 15:28-29: For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

Halfway through eating the horse I suddenly realized I wasn't as hungry as I thought.
I speak of gluttony of course. As long as you do not truly believe you should eat the whole thing before leaving the table it is a fine source of protein.I prefer it smoked like a ham and thinly sliced served cold as an antipasto but that's me.

I think Moses was trying to make a different point in Deuteronomy. He was trying to illustrate a few exceptions with the camel, hare and coney.
I believe Leviticus is somewhat more concise on the topic:
Quote:
"Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat." Leviticus 11:3 - KJV
|
The horse fails in all three criteria.
Regardless, it may be okay for the woman to eat such unclean beasts, as we know from scripture that God was talking to Moses, Aaron and children. Not women.
Quote:
"And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth." Leviticus 11:1-2 - KJV
|
In any event, no Christian man would choose horse over steer for his daily three servings of prime rib. Of this, I am certain.
Beef is best.
In Christ!

This is wild horse meat, not horses bred for eating. I always stay away from eating wild animals.
Is there are difference in wild and bred animals for eating.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth
Proverbs 19:25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
Ezekiel 16:14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.
Proverbs 6:25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Genesis 24:16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.
Song of Solomon 1:15 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes.

If they are like other vegetarian animals the taste of the meat will depend on what they have been eating....ever eat venison that was taken in an area where corn is grown, much better marbling and taste. Even home raised beef you grain feed for 3 months prior to the freezer for your best results.

Umm... no. God makes no distinction.

Unless you've encountered wild horses that are cloven-hoofed and chew their cud, best to trust His word, young one.

Thankyou for your replies.
I was never quite sure as the Bible always mentions Shepard's tendering their flocks. So I thought it is better just to eat meat that came from breeding.

I do not know.
I ride horses. I find it weird to eat what I ride. I suppose when my legs are wrapped around the beast and she's pumping with all she has, building up a good sweat, the idea of eating her seems distasteful.
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

As long as the animal has not been kept as a pet eat up.
A Pasta's Creed as passed to Solipsy
Quote:
38 The eating of pets, the True Believer shall not do, for verily and with most seriousness shall it be held an abomination.
39 Thou shall not eat of the hamster nor the gerbil, nor any other denizen of the Habitrail, neither of the cat nor its kittens, the dog nor its pups.
40 Neither shall thou partake of the flesh of the parakeet nor the iguana nor the goldfish nor any fish of the tank or decorative pond, for it is an abomination unto his Holy Jiggling Appendages.
41 Neither shall thee roast the flesh of pets from the store nor shelter, whether cuddly or annoying, for verily it is an abomination unto the Spaghetti Lord, and also of great repulsion to the sane.
42 Also it shall be held a deep abomination to partake of the flesh of the pets of thy neighbors, even if such pets do bark long and mightily throughout the night, disturbing the rest of the True Believer.
43 Even if the pets of thy neighbors dig in thy yard and garden, or otherwise behave in ways which shall peeve thee, of them thou shall not eat.
44 Thou shall not grind them and mix their flesh with bread crumbs nor rice nor oats nor tasty seasonings of any kind, for it is an abomination.
45 Thou shall not bathe them in the sauces of any kind, nor shape them, thine own or thy neighbor‟s, into rounded form.
46 Thou shall not even consider them lowly unto the Atkins diet, for truly it is just plain sick.
47 For the breaking of this most high and holy law, the True Believer must submit to years of serious Psychiatric Counseling and agree to take such legal medications as are prescribed by a professional physician.

I've eaten many pets. Every year as a child I had a pet turkey, every year we ate my pet for Christmas. I named the cows, I named the pigs, didn't quite go as far as naming the chickens, but you get the idea.
As for brother James horse, well I wouldn't eat that horse as it is probably stringy if you're riding it that hard. I believe the French have a specific breed that they get their meat from.

I believe it is kind of like veal, you eat the young, less exercised pony's. Heavily worked adult animals will have a lot more meat but it will be all muscle. Any good eating meat you will want it ''marbled''light threads of fat between the muscle fiber making it much more tender and tasty.
I dare say a shetland pony would be a perfect BBQ animal.

Koala meat is getting more and more difficult to obtain - darn greenies!! - so I must get some of this horse meat and try my speciality pie.
I will let you know how a horse and mango potato top pie tastes once I have had time to experiment.
In the meantime I have sent away for this book.

LOL, you reminded me of a few cows we had when I was younger "Sir Loin" and "Burger King".
Ah the french, that explains why they have to slather all their food in a over-powering masking sauce.
