Please explain, where does this verse say that Heaven, Earth, and hell stood still? It just says about the darkness. Like a very long, three hour total solar eclipse.
Quote:
Matthew 27:50-54 (KJV)
50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
And that was the thunderous reaction of the Heaven and Earth to the most anticipated moment in the post-sin era of all creation, as they rejoiced as the prince of the world(then), Satan was finally cast out, and the new and reigning
Prince, Jesus was installed.
And it was a fitting response to mark the day that heralded the unprecedented victory of Man over the power of sin, death, and destruction.
The day that Heaven, Earth, and Hell stood still.

Well, thankfully, Earth still stands still, as earthquakes (events when earth moves) are rare and relatively confined.
The Bible tells us that Earth is immovable:
1 Chronicles 16:30 Fear before him, all the earth: the world also shall be stable, that it be not moved.
Psalm 93:1 The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.
Psalm 104:5 Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.
It is the Sun that moves around the earth:
Ecclesiastes 1:5 The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.
Nonetheless, the Bible does mention one occasion, when Moon and Sun stayed still, prolonging the day so that Israelites could kill their enemies:
Joshua 10:13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
Now, we could engage in a theological discussion trying to understand how was it established that the Sun stayed still for a whole day at the time when movement of the Sun was the sole source of time measurement... But we can just assume that God who dictated this passage knew exactly how long He kept the Sun from moving forward.
