Crumbling infrastructure? Just buy better cars! -
09-24-2011, 06:29 PM
Obama has been pushing his class-warfare line that we should hire lazy bums to " replace crumbling infrastructure" with taxes coming from the superior 1% of earners.
Audi proves that the REAL way to deal with crumbling infrastructure is to let the best 1% keep our money so we can buy superior German cars, which can deal with collapsing bridges thanks to their ability to read our handwriting. Go ahead, see for yourself:
Voiceover: "The road is not exactly a place of intelligence. Across the nation, over 100,000 miles of highways and bridges are in disrepair. Add to that, countless distractions every mile, millions of ill-equipped vehicles, half-a-million cubic yards of debris, and the 38 million drivers who couldn't pass the drivers' exam today... even if road signs actually did make sense.
This is why we engineered a car that analyzes real-time information, reads your handwriting, and makes 2,000 decisions every second.
The new Audi A6 is here. The road is now an intelligent place."
See? Problem solved.

People don't even realize that the crumbling infrastructure is actually helping the economy because people buy new tires or new cars.

I believe in individual responsibility, so I think it's totally wrong for people to look to Big Government to pave roads. We wouldn't need paved roads if everyone would just buy an SUV with four-wheel drive.
As one who does a lot of international traveling, I can assure you that there are many countries in the world that have decided to take Grover Norquist's advice and "drown government in the bathtub." This saves taxpayers heaps of money. As a result, they have slim, trim, super-efficient government.
Like in Nigeria, for example:
Or Uzbekistan:
Of course, if you don't like traveling by road, you can always use a Learjet and helicopter to get around. That's what I did last summer when I went hunting in Mongolia and bagged myself an endangered snow leopard. If I can do it, why can't everybody else?
So really, I just don't get Obama's whole "infrastructure" argument. People in Somalia don't even have a word for "infrastructure," and they're doing fine.
Besides roads, other examples of Big Government infrastructure we can all do away with are public water supplies, sewage, electricity, schools and hospitals. The Free Market can provide all.
We don't need no Big Government infrastructure.
Praise Jesus!

Great observations, Brother Fred. I don't see why I should have to pay for good roads just so poor people in their junk cars can go anywhere they want to.
Traveling about is a privilage for those of us who have the money and superior vehicles to do so.

I find all this nattering and caterwauling about infrastructure to be silly.
When riding my moped to and from the liquor store, I use sidewalks, front yards, and children's playgrounds to make my way.

I can understand the advantages of a moped or other motorbike: narrow, so easy to drive on sidewalks, easy to avoid objects like bushes, children's toys, etc.
But motorbikes have their drawbacks. Unpleasant in the rain or cold, not convenient for carrying a keg of beer, plus you get no respect from pedestrians and other vehicles. So, may I suggest that next time you want to purchase a vehicle, consider getting one of these...
The snow plow on the front is perfect for pushing obstructions out of the way. Stuff like fences, bicycles, children's toys, children, old ladies, etc - thanks to the 4-wheel-drive and a powerful motor, nothing short of a tree or boulder should stop you.
Of course, with all those crazy liberals on the road, you might want to consider something with a little more security...
I've got one of these babies parked in my garage. True, it doesn't get the best gas mileage, but I find it useful for settling disputes over parking places.
Praise Jesus!

Well, we're not yet at the manly, rough-and-tumble world of African roads yet - in fact, Americans really, really have nothing to complain about. Some stats from the University of Texas:
That's it? Just one workweek per year in traffic? Come on people, just watch a few less TV shows and your productivity will be right back to normal. And so what if Washington is late for work, less IRS on the job makes us all better off.
And it's not like being in traffic costs much money:
I've spent more for lunch than that.
The fuel costs of traffic come to $121 billion annually, but not ALL of that goes to Saudi Arabia, and not ALL of that money goes to Al Queda, so it's still more cost-effective for the government to build bombs than bridges.

Brothers in Christ, after seeing this thread again I'm moved to ask just what the hell has been going on here (pardon my French). After Obama and the Demoncrats have spent close to a trillion dollars on their "stimulus" package that was supposed to fix all this "crumbling infrastructure" of roads and bridges with all those "shovel ready" jobs for the unemployed, it now looks like we still have crumbling infrastructure and still no jobs.
It just goes to show you that if you put a nigra in charge nothing gets done - everyone must have been standing around eating watermelon instead of working the last few years.
Jesus knew how to get things done, and at a good price too. He certainly would not have put up with the whining unions, and He definitely put a stop to any hewing and crying for "equal pay for equal work" crap.
Quote:
For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.
And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,
And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.
Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.
And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.
So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.
And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.
But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.
And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,
Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.
But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?
Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.
Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

The thing is, the slice of the American public that complains about traffic congestion are those who just are not achievers.
That is, they are lazy people driving their own cars. Those who work hard and succeed hire their own driver. With one's own driver, a successful person can make profitable use of the time stuck in traffic.
I have no sympathy for people who complain about traffic.

Repairing bridges and roads is an unfair tax burden on the rich. Some of them just take helicopters and don't even need roads.
If poor or middle class people really want roads repaired, then only they should have to pay those taxes to repair them. Not rich people. I've said on repeated occasions that poor/middle class are more likely to use tax funded services than the rich, thus we should have a regressive tax. That, and/or we should give rich people additional taxpayer funded benefits, such as replacing handicapped parking with wealthy parking.
Besides, have you seen the poor people lately? A lot of them could use some exercise.
Close minded people are just right people who don't want to spend time arguing.

I heard the news today, oh boy: 41 holes in Harrisburg Pennsylvania:
Anyone who isn't retarded or Asian could simply drive around that - the only problem there is the government parasites who are standing in the way, literally.
Instead of collectivist "solutions" like construction workers, we should have a system where people take initiative and personal responsibility. Just drive a vehicle that brings it's own bridge with it, like one of these:
