Do Catholics have their own Sharia courts too? -
08-28-2012, 07:59 PM
Friends, I must confess I'm not super knowledgeable about Papism, but the last paragraph of the following story caught my eye:
San Francisco Archbishop-elect brings shame upon those who support and defend traditional marriage
Quote:
SAN DIEGO — The Rev. Salvatore Cordileone, the Roman Catholic bishop of Oakland who was named by Pope Benedict XVI last month to become the Archbishop of San Francisco, was arrested in San Diego early Saturday on a charge of driving while under the influence.
Cordileone is one of California’s leading opponents of same-sex marriage, and was the principal architect of Proposition 8, the 2008 voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage.
According to a statement issued by his office, Cordileone was driving home from a dinner with friends in San Diego early Saturday when he was pulled over at a DUI checkpoint near San Diego State University.
The statement said a sobriety test showed his blood-alcohol level to be above the legal limit of 0.08 percent, although Cordileone did not reveal by how much.
“I apologize for my error in judgment and feel shame for the disgrace I have brought upon the Church and myself,” he said. “I pray that God, in His inscrutable wisdom, will bring some good out of this.”
According to the HRC, Cordileone played a central role in founding and executing the Protect Marriage campaign, and under his influence, Catholic organizations in California played a leading role in financing the Proposition 8 campaign. His partners included the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) and Focus on the Family. In fact, it was Cordileone who personally phoned NOM co-founder Maggie Gallagher and asked her to get NOM involved in the Prop 8 fight.
“Bishop Cordileone has proven himself to be an anti-gay activist who encourages and promotes discrimination against LGBT people,” said Human Rights Campaign President Chad Griffin.
Cordileone, 56, is scheduled to be installed as the San Francisco Archbishop on Oct. 4, five days before his first court appearance.
Because Catholic bishops are answerable only to the Pope, any potential discipline outside the justice system, would have to come from the Vatican, said Michael Ritty, a canon lawyer in private practice in upstate New York, in a report by the Associated Press.
|
Excuse me? A canon lawyer? Just when and where does a canon lawyer get to ply his trade? Is this why so many pedophile priests get off scott free? Because they're being tried in Catholic courts instead of real ones?
I don't trust secular agencies to do much of anything right, but if the alternative is to have guys like this tried by juries of their pedo-peers, I just hope and pray that they'll find themselves standing trial in tough secular courts where justice will be poured all over them like hot lava!

A canon lawyer is hired by the Vatican (read, paid for by donations of the duped ring-kissing papists offered every Sunday) to keep the pope's proverbial nose clean. They clean up messes like this, but not when molestation charges might take money away from the Grand Dupe Master himself. If the priest is caught fiddling little kids, the Vatican quickly disowns him.
Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

Ah, thank you for clarifying this, Mary. The more I learn, the more disgusted I feel.
As to this Bishop's drunken escapades, this just goes to show you what happens when you entrust the defense of marriage to a Catholic. A San Francisco Catholic, no less!

To answer your question, yes the Catholics have their own version of Sharia court were they put Catholics on "trial" for breaking the rules or squabble over divorces. The Inquisition is still on going too.

The father of a friend of mine was brought before one for "heresy" and excommunicated. Ironically the Ring Kissers were right because he had become an Atheist. One of my cousins had his marriage annulled by one.
Way more than you want to know about it from the Catholics

The only difference, Brother FM, is that the present-day Catholic courts are specifically about cult matters, whether they follow dogma. Sharia courts are intended to take the place of civil law courts, prescribing Queeran-based punishments for criminal acts.
So, at the present time, the Catholic cult does not have Sharia courts. But they did in the past, at the height of the Holy Roman Empire, one of the longest-lasting and most advanced theocracies in human history, before the Great Awakening currently underway here in the Godly USA.

Advanced, you say? If we're talking about Catholicism, I'm going to assume you mean "advanced" as in "advanced stages of cancer."

Advanced technologically, Brother, and advanced in size and power.
Nothing comparable to the US, but we are not yet successful in achieving the Founders' dream of a True Christian™ Theocracy.
