My thoughts on being called “the help” by parishioners. -
05-31-2022, 03:38 AM
I’ve noticed that a lot of the lovely and admirable white True Christian ™️ parishioners have called me “the help” rather than call me by name. It’s never really bothered me and I figure it was a pet nickname since I find myself always helping around the church whether it be sweeping up the pews after service is done, scrubbing down the toilets, spit shining Pastor Ezekiel’s gold septic tank, replacing the multiple parking lots (which I promise is almost done. It’s not an expedient job to do alone mind you), and even disinfecting the tin tither area regularly. Nobody’s ever called me “the help” to my face and it perplexes me as to why. I wouldn’t be bothered. I embrace it in fact. Helping the white man has always been a dream I hold near and dear to my heart. I’ve expressed this to Pastor Ezekiel several times when he explains why my paychecks are D̶e̶l̶a̶y̶e̶d̶ down payments on my tithing. Let’s look at The Bible and see what it has to say about being “help” and if it’s something to be bothered about.
Ephesians 6:5 is a verse I hold near and dear to my heart. “Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;“ Oh boy. If I weren’t finding myself in service, I may find myself on the fast train to being a lazy one who isn’t god fearing and instead on the railroad to HELL. Choo choo!!!!! It’s something many nigras fail to understand. See, the white man has always been generous in finding work for folks to work hard at. When the US made the unfortunate decision to abolish slavery, it’s fitted the black man with a higher challenge to remain hard working and on the pathway to Heaven’s doorstep.
Titus 2:9-10 Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; This goes without saying. I’m incredibly obedient to Pastor Ezekiel and other white male parishioners and I can say WITHOUT A DOUBT that they please me all hours of the day when I am told how obedient I’ve been. Puts a smile on my face and theirs. Who doesnt want to be pleased regularly?
1 Peter 2:18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. No hard worker should be too comfortable around their boss. If a boss is too soft, it would make me lazy, which would loop around again to Ephesians 6:5. Pastor Ezekiel understand this which is why he keeps me so busy.
<sigh> Sometimes I envy the black men and women of the US before the years of 1865. All that work to do would mean a straight path to Heaven with no detours or paths to wonder off scarily.
All that said, thank you for addressing me as “the help” around church and please continue to do so.

Nice to see someone accepting his God-given position in life. During the darkest hours of the day I've often asked you to lend me your "helping hand" and I've gotten release from my "blue" feelings. Of course, the time it took you to write this post will be deducted from your wages.
Here is a partial list from just a few scripture verses:
Hypocrites (Matthew 24:51), The Unforgiving (Mark 11:26), Homosexuals (Romans 1:26, 27), Fornicators (Romans 1:29), The Wicked (Romans 1:29), The Covetous (Romans 1:29), The Malicious (Romans 1:29), The Envious (Romans 1:29), Murderers (Romans 1:29), The Deceitful (Romans 1:29), Backbiters (Romans 1:30), Haters of God (Romans 1:30), The Despiteful (Romans 1:30), The Proud (Romans 1:30), Boasters (Romans 1:30), Inventors of evil (Romans 1:30), Disobedient to parents (Romans 1:30), Covenant breakers (Romans 1:31), The Unmerciful (Romans 1:31), The Implacable (Romans 1:31), The Unrighteous (1Corinthians 6:9), Idolaters (1Corinthians 6:9), Adulterers (1Corinthians 6:9), The Effeminate (1Corinthians 6:9), Thieves (1Corinthians 6:10), Drunkards (1Corinthians 6:10), Reviler (1Corinthians 6:10), Extortioners (1Corinthians 6:10), The Fearful (Revelation 21:8), The Unbelieving (Revelation 21:8), The Abominable (Revelation 21:8), Whoremongers (Revelation 21:8), Sorcerers (Revelation 21:8), All Liars (Revelation 21:8)

Uncle Rutherford,
Now that you have successfully completed the Landover Baptist Church ex-negro program, you have earned the right to be addressed by your name.
Just one thing--what is your name? Somebody said it was Tyrone, but I always thought it was one of those Africanized names like LaDanian or Loqueesha. You know what? I'll just call you Tyrone from now on.

In addition to your excellent work for Pastor Zeke, Uncle Rutherford, you remain in good standing because you have not chosen a white wife. Mixed race marriages are, of course, what angers Jesus.
To me, this qualifies you for some more honorific name than "the help." What that term should be I'm not sure. There once was a movie star named "Tom Mix." Perhaps your title could be "Nomix." If you have a better suggestion that would be helpful.
Isaiah 24:1-3 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty (2)...as the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him. (3) The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken his word.

A lot of my family liked to call me “Uncle Tom” for whatever reason. Not sure if it’s something that’d stick in the Freehold community but it’s also something I’m not bothered by.
That said, I’m considering opening up a work study program with Landover Baptist Church’s Sunday school program if any children are interested in spending overnight with me on Friday and into Saturday night as well. Thinking a good vocational program may show them how rewarding it is to be busy and follow what you’re asked to do.

One of my children asked if your name was Tom. I don't know where he got that idea, but as nobody seemed to know they decided to keep calling you "Brother Unc", which is how I refer to you on the rare occasions that I need to mention you. I hope that's all right?
I don't think calling you "the help" is - er - helpful, as that could be any one of hundreds of people.
