Praise Jesus for the excellent proactive attitude of that school! Plus, just think of the time, trouble and expense they saved those parents.

Several parents, of questionable commitment to Jesus, were hopping mad. "We wanted grandma and grandpa there when Jimmy got baptized--blah, blah, blah."

Yeah, sure, of course they did. Because it's all about putting on a show and claiming it's for the benefit of the wrinklies. But does anyone ever ask grandma and grandpa if they want to attend? Well, I do - merely out of politeness, because the answer is invariably "Thanks, but no thanks, Joanna." My parents and parents-in-law have attended enough baptisms of their own children.
I fully understand their lack of enthusiasm. And their absence from this important ceremony sends out a vital message to children: "Nothing, ever, is All About You!"
