Default Day 106. 2 Kings 10-12 - 01-16-2008, 08:03 PM

2 Kings 10-12

Today we get:
  • The destruction of the house of Ahab
  • Jehu destroys Baal
  • Athaliah takes over
  • Jehoash wants to repair the temple

2 Kings 10

1 And Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, unto the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to them that brought up Ahab's children, saying,

Remember Ahab had just died (by Jehu) and part of the prophecy was that Jehu would wipe out Ahab's children.

So Jehu sent out letters to the people who watched over Ahab's kids.

2 Now as soon as this letter cometh to you, seeing your master's sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and horses, a fenced city also, and armour;

3 Look even out the best and meetest of your master's sons, and set him on his father's throne, and fight for your master's house.

Basically Jehu said; Ahab is dead, you are in charge of someone who has a right to the throne, I DARE YOU to declare him king.

So they all wrote back saying that Jehu was king and they wouldn't promote the person they were a caretaker of to that position.

So Jehu writes back to them.

6 Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, If ye be mine, and if ye will hearken unto my voice, take ye the heads of the men your master's sons, and come to me to Jezreel by to morrow this time. Now the king's sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, which brought them up.

So those people all cut off the heads of the children of Ahab and sent them to Jehu. He made a nice little pile of their heads in town.

9 And it came to pass in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, Ye be righteous: behold, I conspired against my master, and slew him: but who slew all these?

He was saying that by their heads being there, the PEOPLE had elected him as king.

11 So Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his kinsfolks, and his priests, until he left him none remaining.

Wouldn't it be great if after each presidential election in the U.S. if after the Inauguration, the new president killed the old president and then killed all of his relatives?

13 Jehu met with the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are ye? And they answered, We are the brethren of Ahaziah; and we go down to salute the children of the king and the children of the queen.

So then Jehu killed them; remember he killed Ahaziah too.

15 And when he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is thine heart right, as my heart is with thy heart? And Jehonadab answered, It is. If it be, give me thine hand. And he gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.

Then Jehu unleashed his master plan to destroy Baal from Israel.

18 And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.

PRAISE JESUS.... wait, did he just say that he's going to be the best servant of Baal???

19 Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal; whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.

Ah, he's cunning. He claimed there was gonna be a massive sacrifice to Baal, and that every Baal worshiper had to be there (if they weren't there they would be killed anyway).

21 And Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was full from one end to another.

He then has them make sure that there's no LORD worshipers in the congregation, when they are sure, Jehu tells his men that if anyone escapes, he will have that person killed.

25 And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.

26 And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal, and burned them.

27 And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day.

28 Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

Why don't we do something like this at the Hajj? Every year there's millions of mudslimes all congregated in one place. We could just nuke them, and then go in and destroy each one of their "holy" sites. Why does Israel allow the temple mound to be defiled with that Mudslime thing? No wonder the U.S. (and Freehold, Iowa) is now God's favorite. You don't see any mosques, temples, or cathylick churches in Freehold, now do you?

29 Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, to wit, the golden calves that were in Bethel, and that were in Dan.

Jehu just didn't like Baal, he seemed to not have any problem with the golden calves.

31 But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.

God was happy with most of Jehu's accomplishments, so He promised him that up to his fourth generation would be king.

But, God was still kind of pissed at Israel, so he let Hazael kill a bunch of people.

2 Kings 11

1 And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.

So Ahaziah had just died, and his mother goes out and kills all her grandchildren from her son, the former king, and then she assumes the throne herself.

2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.

Ah, they hid Joash, kind of like Moses, and raised him elsewhere.

4 And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and shewed them the king's son.

Jehoiada is apparently the high priest of Israel.

Jehoiada has a plan to install Joash as king. They are gonna take the temple on a Sabbath, and then kill anyone who stays loyal to the queen.

12 And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.

The king is only (roughly) 7 at the time he is made king. Jehoiada is the person who is really leading Israel during most of his reign.

14 And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.

So Jehoiada has Athaliah taken out of the temple and killed.

17 And Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD and the king and the people, that they should be the LORD's people; between the king also and the people.

So then Jehoiada has the people destroy all the Baal stuff in Judah (so now Baal is destroyed in both Israel and in Judah, PRAISE JESUS!!!)

2 Kings 12

2 And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

See, when a ruler has a godly man advising him, he does well, just like President W. and Pastor Deacon Fred!

3 But the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

Israel still had it's golden calves, Judah still had it's high places, I guess you can't destroy every false religion during ones reign as king.

4 And Jehoash said to the priests, All the money of the dedicated things that is brought into the house of the LORD, even the money of every one that passeth the account, the money that every man is set at, and all the money that cometh into any man's heart to bring into the house of the LORD,

5 Let the priests take it to them, every man of his acquaintance: and let them repair the breaches of the house, wheresoever any breach shall be found.

Jehoash (formerly Joash, we aren't told why the name change) decides he wants the house of the LORD repaired. So he tells the priests to take the offerings and repair it.

The priests didn't do it, for some reason.

So Jehoash tells the priests they aren't to receive any money at all. So Jehoiada takes a box, drills a hole in it, and places it by the door, for donations.

When the box was full, Jehoiada hired people to repair the temple.

Around this time, Hazael took Gath, and decided he was going to conquer Jerusalem next.

18 And Jehoash king of Judah took all the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers, kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own hallowed things, and all the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the LORD, and in the king's house, and sent it to Hazael king of Syria: and he went away from Jerusalem.

Jehoash thinks he can bribe Hazael, or at least empty the town of wealth so there's no reason for Hazael to conquer it.

20 And his servants arose, and made a conspiracy, and slew Joash in the house of Millo, which goeth down to Silla.

That's what you get for giving away the LORD's stuff!

The next king was Amaziah.

So what have we learned today?

1. If you don't want your entire family killed, don't be king of Israel.
2. If you follow a false god, and you are summoned to church (under penalty of death) you should probably not go anyway and take your chances on the run.
3. Baal was driven out of Israel and Judah, you might say that Israel took their Baal and went home!

Excellent work, as always Brother V.

I hardly dare to post in this GLORIOUS section, but I think for once I know the answer.

Americans are as cunning as Jehu. Simple as that.

During the Hadj, Mecca is basically one giant traffic jam that lasts for months. Total gridlock. That way we can easily steal their oil without them even noticing.

Further more, the Saudis are building more and more hotels for these millions and millions of wailing & crying & stone throwing Mooslims. Because they were out of space, they themselves destroyed a lot of "Holy Places" where Moohammed used to wander and such.
So if we wait a few years, Mecca will only be a giant hotel park, and the Kabah - that giant box of biscuits - will have been removed too, or turned into a Marriott hotel.

A cunning plan if I ever saw one.

PS: it looks like they have aircon on that thing now.

Psalm 81:10:
I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:
open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

Anything that would spare us from a Hillary Clinton Presidency works for me. Come to think of it, I could have done without John Quincy Adams, too.

Did God Commend the Killings At Jezreel?

And the LORD said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel. 2 Kings 10:30

And the LORD said unto him, Call his name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel. Hosea 1:4

Maybe this is too obvious to point out, but there must have been two massacres at Jezreel, one that God approved, and another that God condemned. If only the damned Jews hadn't lost the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel, we would probably know all of the details.

A Grave Matter

Joash ... died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David. 2 Kings 12:20-21

Joash ... died: and they buried him in the city of David, but they buried him not in the sepulchres of the kings. 2 Chronicles 24:24-25

Easy to explain: Joash's fathers were also not buried in the sepulchres of the kings. Why? I have no clue--try asking the Jews who lost the missing books of the Bible.

On second thought, don't ask them. They don't seem to get much of the Bible right.

Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name.... Jeremiah 10:25
