Default On the Nature of Heaven (with reference to Fish) - 02-27-2018, 09:42 PM

We used to have a pastor at Landover who was very keen on preaching the Word of God to “all His creatures” as per Mark:15:16, and this included dolphins and other fish. (He had his own demons and, unfortunately, lost his life near the old Bridge.)

He and his particular ministry came to mind as I was asked to read the poem “Heaven” by Rupert Brooke to a child of some sort that was begat by the loins of one of my off-spring’s offspring.

It is thus clear that God shared His Word with fish – and this is shown in the high fish content of Jesus’s Ministry – loaves and fishes, the full nets of the Disciples who were fishermen, Jonah and the Whale, Exodus 7:18, Jeremiah 16:16 ,Numbers 11:5, Luke 24:42, etc.

Obviously, we don’t want a heaven that is filled with worms and cold water, do we? So is the question “Is fishes’ heaven any different from ours?”
The answer must be “No” – that cannot be a question that a Christian asks as there cannot be two heavens, can there?

“How can that be?” I hear Catholics and atheists ask “Is there waterweed in profusion, or is there not! Answer me that!”

How ridiculous, how absurd, how lacking in Faith! Unlike them, you are a Christian. You, like me believe that Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and God the Father are one not three. You, like me, have no difficulty with Christ being 100% God and 100% man and that is entirely logical and reasonable – how could it not be so? It is not we Christians who need to explain anything – it is the disbeliever, the pagan with his stupid gods, the Catholic, the atheist, etc.

However, in support of our belief, we can say that my idea of heaven is not the same as, for example, a poor person in Africa’s. He may wish an infinite supply of bananas, cheap alcohol, and loose women, I would require the finest raiment and food, a house without the plumbing problems I have, and a woman who does not go on, and on, and on.

Are you going to the same heaven as me? Of course. Will the Darkie get the heaven he wants? That heaven has been promised.

You see where this is leading? We all get the heaven we want – even if we have not ironed out every detail – God will know what suits us. Even if we do not want ever, in all eternity, to be visited by any Kardashian, whereas someone else might. Yet there is only one heaven. It is all these things. It is and it is not.

So, will the fish get a watery heaven or not? Well… nowhere in the Bible does Jesus say that they won’t. And we note from The Book of Revelations of John the Divine that there are horses in heaven – Jesus comes back to Earth on one. There is not much ‘special’ about horses, is there?

There is room to believe that fish will have a watery heaven, but that we will be unaware of them, as I will be unaware of any Kardashian or Darkie (except perhaps “Boy” my faithful retainer) and probably horses, which I distrust.

Christ was once asked, in Luke:20 about what it was like in Heaven:
28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.
30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.
31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.
32 Last of all the woman died also.
33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

People on earth complain that their husband/wife of 50 years is dead and when they get to heaven, they still won’t have a husband/wife. But this is just like fish – they will have the heaven they think they are having and their husband/wife, who may have been glad to be rid of them, will have the heaven that they think they are having.

The essential message is that there is one heaven.

Research on this matter is on-going and the prohibition on contacting the dead – while understandable - is not a help. All comments are welcome.
